About 6 weeks ago I was given an old EV RE20, my favorite sax mic. The foam inside that holds the capsule in place has deteriorated to the point of being non-existent. This is a really old one and sounds great. Should I get it rebuilt or just replace the foam? Any recommendations of where to send it for a rebuild except Telex (who bought out Electrovoice)?

TIA

Daaaamn -- my recommendation to post this thread here instead of in the sax forum didn't quite work out as planned, huh? :D

C'mon guys -- help this guy out!

foam... or nerf

I personally would just replace the foam, it's a common problem with older mic, please don't hit me, but I've found rubber cement works wonders on any foam project.

Giga,

Ah well, at least we got one opinion.

HOM,

Thanx for the advice I'll probably try that first.

you may want to send it back to EV service. they'll probably do it for nothing or next to. i remember someone telling me as much.

call em first...but they are as good as shure in the service dept...quite good.
