Two songs at my site were recorded using Pro Tools. They are called "Crawl" and "Well I Hadn't Thought (remix)."

I'm more interested in what you might think of the original of "Well I Hadn't Thought". A lot of work went into this one. Four-part vocal harmony, heavy delay on the rythem guitar and a sort of different song structure (at least, for me). This particular song was done exclusively on a Tascam 424. The other 3 songs there were done on a Porta 03 about four years ago. Check them out too. :D

Hi Mike, Fargo eh? My brother lives there I think, if he is stll alive. Havent spoken in years. If you ever see him, whack him in the face with a two by four, and say " Your brother says hi".

Nice stuff, well done. Obviously you are limited when using 424s et al, but you made the most of it.

Well I Hadnt thought? I liked it MUCH better then the remix. The four part vocals were clever and fairly well in tune.

My main beef was the reverb, for me it is too heavy, way too heavy on Crawl.

Nice Job:cool:

hey, kanistr. checked out "crawl" and dug it. great job capturing an eerie mood. i personally thought the verb worked for that reason. other than that, not much to talk about mix-wise (not much other instrumentation). liked the tune and thought it was represented well by the recording -- can't say much more, other than keep it up :)

I agree that the reverb worked in this occasion. You may not like it personally, but it fit the mood of the song.

I probably do indulge in the reverb a bit too much at times. I just really dig that stuff. It was very dominant in '50s/'60s music, most of which I love (even though it was waaay before my time). The '50s influence is very evident at the end of "Well I Hadn't Thought" - that weird little doo-wop thing.

"Crawl" is such a dark tune. It just felt right to have the reverb so up-front on the vocal. I wanted it to sound hollow...distant.
Plus, reverb covers up a lotta crap:D
