rackmountable empty project box?

Does anyone know where I could find a cheap sheet metal rackmountable box? (like a rack drawer stuck shut) I have some custom electronics that I'm looking to mount. Ideal size would be 2U, ~8" deep.

I found a couple of places willing to sell me boxes like this, but I refuse to pay $80 for four square feet of metal. $30 would be ok.

I don't know that you'll find anything for $30 but try this link and see what they've got. I haven't found very many suppliers of these cases, either, but this one I bookmarked for future review.

cool, thanks. that's not too bad, especially compared with what i've been seeing elsewhere.

when i see boxes like this for $80 i feel like i should just buy an old broken amp or something and gut it for the case.

We have a couple of electronics consignment shops here in town. They're like the elephants grave yard of electronics. In the past I've bought rack mouted devices that were sold as broken for cheap ($20) and took it home and gutted it. Instant rack mount kit box. I've also used a regular Rat Shack kit boxes and mounted them to a blank rack spacer plate. That works pretty good too.
