I’m gradually setting up at DAW with an AMD 2500, 512 Ram, a couple of Keyboards (Ensoniq and Korg), a couple of Line6 Pod’s for guitar and bass, Mics and a tube preamp and a Behringer 2222 mixer.

On the Computer I’m running Cubase with a bunch of VST plugins (B4, Absynth, Pro52) etc. The computer came with an all in one motherboard with the sound card included.

My Questions are: In order to get the keyboards controlling the VST instruments I’m going to need a MIDI to USB connector , should I fork out for one now, or just buy a better sound card (like the M-Audio 2496 with MIDI In’s), and skip that step?

Or…do you think my all in one Sound Card with mini jacks will be fine for recording audio?

Any soundcard than comes integrated in your mother board is not a very good choice. They are not meant for recording and is defintely not going to handle your expectations. Since you have a nice quality setup, go with a better sound card. They are the most important of all. M audio is a great choice. You can get the midi built in sound cards and skip that usb adapter.
