You're right, I should have included that with my post. I suck at writing responses when I'm multitasking lol.

What a load of nonsense.... MetalHead is right.... the term "producer" is thrown around a lot, particularly in the Hip-Hop genre - although in fairness, they use the term "produca" instead of "producer".....

I don't agree!
You can poke all the fun you have. There many Hiphop Producers or "Produca" (As ignorant as you may want to put it) who will run circles around you. You have always came off as very arrogant and you think you know everything! There are "Produca's" who will run circles around you and laugh all the way to the bank while doing it. (Still putting out quality music)

*sheesh* Where do you people get your info??????????

Who in the Hell are you? There is Blue Bear and then everyone else in this forum. Let people voice their opinions, be it right or wrong, then voice your without try to belittle people. For all of your knowledge, you have waaaaay too much time on your hands........Appreciate Music as a whole and stop the stereotyping..........

You people are seeing this thing WAY TOO black and white.

In the traditional sense...Blue Bear is right about the term "producer".

But let's face the fact that the music world has changed a lot over the years.

The things a rock/pop producer does, might not be the same things a hip hop producer does, or a dance producer for that matter.

A lot of composing, producing, "remixing" (YES in the modern sense of the word) overlaps nowadays... the term producer HAS changed when it comes to certain musical genres. If you disagree, go tell Madlib, or go tell Laurent Garnier.

And I wish people everybody around here (that means you too, Blue Bear..."produca"...how unfunny can you get) would stop pigeonholing everybody, stop being so condescending to each other, and stop being so narrowminded when it comes to "other" genres.

Stop the ignorant shit, and if you think somebody else is ignorant...tell them something usefull.

I didn't make that term up -- it's used all over the place by forumites into hip-hop..... apparently, you're not as well-informed as you'd like to beleive.

That's EXACTLY what I did -- corrected the bullshit....... problem is, there's a lot of it being spewed across the forums...........

I'm someone that, along with the other pros here, tries - most often without success -- to correct the amazing amount of bullshit being spread around these forums........

ah, fuck what "people say on the forum" Blue Bear...

about the only time the non-hiphop-making people come into that section is when they are in aa "hey let's act silly and mock the hip hoppers"-mood.

And further... I just want to say...stick to whatever you do, 'cause it seems you don't know shit about anything going on in other types of music.

Here, go tell Laurent he's not a producer

Um.... this is the Mixing/Mastering forum..... NOT the Hip-Hop forum......

I know, I'm just saying you wouldn't know what goes on in the "hiphop" section of this board...as do a lot of other people that talk in such a condescending way...

oh..have you mailed Laurent yet?

to add a little

Let me add a little to the conversation..
Okay who in 'her have seen, whatz dat movie?...Aww. It be called Hustle and Flowww.
I was excited about that movie. It was advertised as being a documentary style look at a black man's struggle to make a worthwhile record from a home studio, basically.
Uh...Wrongk
It scared the shit out of me. I hated the way it made me feel. I have worked with rock, pop, christian, and hip-hop in my studio, and I saw patterns in the way the characters acted in the movie and how I can remember that type of bullshit in my studio. I feel so much pain for the urban community that Hustle and Flow represents. What the fuck is wrong with as Ross Perot accidentally put it, "you" people? Why would you want to work towards acting like a "straight playah hatin' dem motha f***in tricks yo?" For real. What is the reason? Why would gang activity be fun and exciting? Why promote that activity or even condone it? Is it out of straight fear for "yo" life? Why would you want to live that way?
lets make some things *opinions of my own* clear
Bluebear is a self righteous dickhead if I have ever seen one
Bluebear has a brilliantly laid out studio and the knowledge to back it up...it isn't a home studio. He is kind of like Bill Gates working at Best Buy.
Unfortunately, "da urbn community gunna luh dis one"
Stereotypes are FUCKING REAL!
As a follower of sociology and a believer in political studies and especially urban communities...
Stereotypes come into existence because of truths. Using Stereotype as a word to go against something isn't correct.
One definition of stereotype is: One that is regarded as embodying or conforming to a set image or type.
The definition isn't...."Lie...it be uh lie!"
Why does the urban community morph global conditions and problems into the size of their hood? That is what people do to feel significant under poverty levels.
Okay, "ooooooo KAyyyyyy..."(I couldn't resist). I can accept that, but why are rich intelligent folks like ...you know...big produca's like P. Diddy (who by the way is a produca, by definition) support this bullshit.
Why does the hip-hop/urban community insist on adding jargon to the english language, substituting words for others...adding new meanings to words. Speaking in code.
In my studio, I'm like...Okay, so after the 1st chorus is the delay going to disappear.
He says, "Bet."
I'm like what, "fo' sho."
Then I say, okay, I'm gonna lose the delay after it.
He says, "Bet."
Finally when he mumbles other strange connections between words, I say, I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you are saying, will you just say it?
The thing that makes me mad, is this isn't an uneducated "foohl". I went to college with this guy. He has been slowly trying to turn into a super cool "nigga, that hustle caws he nehver struggle."
WHY is this bullshit in order? And why is the critism taken so negatively? What is wrong with thinking it is a bit peculiar for folks to randomly accept words being replaced with other words. Who needs a pimp, when you have a player...which then can't even f****ng stay player...must turn to playuh.
I heard a song that says, Shoot the club up.
OH...MY. HOW COOL! Shoot my kid sister who is listening to music and dancing with her friends.
666 Mafia, "My baby need shoes, bitch you got the game wrong."
WOW! THAT IS A GREAT WAY TO LIVE.
STEREOTYPING...I think not.
But yeah, BlueBear is a dick!

man, I wish you would just type a little more "normal"...not to say that it should always perfectly in "The Queen's English"... but I KNOW a lot of people take this shit and run with it... You typing like this, and them going "oh you see....hip hop people can't even type straight".

And I know what you mean on that college dude... ignorance and dumbness is a "cool" thing nowadays...especially, sadly, with hiphoppers.

And as for Blue Bear...hey. I like the fact the guy knows a lot. I just wish he wouldn't think he's the only one that does.

I was making fun

I know it isn't the Queen's english. I was being a smartass. But I am trying to provoke a serious discussion.

That has to be the longest piece of random incoherent dribble shit that I've ever seen just to call BB a dickhead. Just call him a dickhead and be done with it so he can go back to puttin the smack down on da wanabe producas.

Well....it does sound like some posts are a bit racial...but that doesn't bother me b/c if someone is ignorant enough to try and downplay a genre of music and stereotype it with their very ignorant attempt at ebonics comedy, then so be it...you can think these producers or "producas" don't know what they are doing as far as engineering, but you are very wrong, even those that don't engineer. who the f cares, engineers are being paid maybe 45-50/hr while some of these producers get 100 gs or more (or 100,000 dollars in lamens terms) just for their beats to be used....Like I said the role of the producer has changed from what it used to be....And all you so called rockers...are you aware of the roots of rock and roll, do you know where it started...I'm sure if you all took the time to research b/f making these posts, then some of them wouldn't be made....lol.....you people are hilarious.

Where Rock Started

Yeah man, TOTALLY!
Rock started with Hustlin and Flowin in the fields with MPC's and Benzies.
I didn't critisize a genre.
I think phat beats are..uh...PHAT!
Seriously. I love them. But the coolness of being ignorant...the being okay with not supporting your children, shooting people....
Is that cool? nobodies downplaying abilities
Don't hate the produca, hate the game.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I agree with many of the things that Bear said, but there are some I don't agree with. I just don't think it's worth a ugly dispute over it. I know the genre that I stick to, so I learn about that. There's many things in different genres I wouldn't know about, so I don't talk about that unless I'm asking questions to better educate myself. As far as the whole "although in fairness, they use the term 'produca' instead of 'producer' " thing goes, that's like saying all rock and roll musicians are on some kind of drug or drunk all the time, which isn't true. Sterotypes suck don't they.

ok, I was going to leave this discussion but....fuck that...

Dude that wrote the post about "Hustle and Flow" first of all, don't you ever use the word nigga again dude, you would really get fucked up, and b/c you are safe behind this computer you feel it's ok, you need to chill on that shit...

Secondly, have you ever lived the life that is portrayed in hustle and flow? If not, don't comment on that shit, that's some real shit....If you have ever lived in a a similar type of environment, you would understand.....Singleton isn't promoting this type of lifestyle, he is only capturing it and letting people like YOU know that this world does exist......America has so much going on that goes under most people's noses, obviously you are one of them. If you didn't feel comfortable with it, you should have left out of the movies. And you say it scares you and reminds you of situations in your studio, well don't record that kind of music.....Everybody doesn't live a sheltered life and there is absolutely nothing wrong with people rapping about it, if that is what they know.....

homerecorder1, what do you do for a living? You better be a multi millionaire the way you talk, you are very funny, you're probably the kid that got his ass whipped at school everyday for saying little smart shit like that, i'm not going to go back and forth with you over this computer b/c you can say what you want on the cpu, i can guarantee you won't go to a "hood" near you and pass out copies of your posts and ask for a reply...

Whoops

I thought it was okay to say some words with "a" subsituted for "er".
Guess what.
I'm black you dumbass.
I can say nigga...all the F*** I want.
I can even say it with "er" if I wish.
You just stereotyped me.
Guess you've lived the live in Hustle and Flow huh? That is why you are sitting infront of a computer with an internet connection. I wasn't sure if they had alot of internet hookups in the hood.
So you are merely saying the urban community that I speak of is 'reporting' what is happening in the hood? They aren't making it OKAY to do all of the horrible things that they talk about in their lyrics. I feel like I have a huge weight on my shoulders being a black man in todays world. Do you know where the rock came from? It was derived from blues, which began in the fields, which was a result of slaverly. And guess what, it was Blacks that sold Blacks into slavery. So, because it was blacks that began blues...gospel came from it also. Rock next. So are the roots still in the gangster rap. Brother, I'm not hearing it so well these days.

as for the ignorance topic...check out chris rock - black people vs niggas

ok you know where rock came from...I never said the roots were in Gangsta rap, and yes they do have internet in the hood, my mother has a connection at the crib where I spent the last part of my life b/f I moved out.

And hell naw MOST aint saying it's ok to shoot and whatever, if you ever sit down with a real killer, or convict, they will tell you that if they could have lived another type of life, they would have.

Also, I don't give a fuck if you are black, blue, red, or green. Why would you use that word to put down your so called "Brother" in the presence of others, that's what I'm talkin about......

And as far as "living the life" naw, I haven't sold drugs, I haven't murdered anyone, I've never even done drugs, but I've seen these things go on around me...I was just fortunate to have parents that wouldn't allow me to get caught up in what was going on aroung me....like I said, if you haven't lived the life, or in my case "seen it first hand" then don't comment on it, b/c you can't, you don't know.
