I walk the line
According to Richard Monroe, this is a good all-purpose condenser, sounding at least acceptably good on many things. Is there anything it really shines on, and is there anything it really sucks at? And if anyone could relate it's sound to a V67G, that would be great. And remember, Friday is Hawaiian shirt day. ;)

Thanks.

yea, i had one for a while, i actually really liked it on some snares.

it aint too hot for vocals. great on bass cabs. i think a better mic which is awfully similar is the at 4033. another medium diaphram condenser.

I liked it on pretty much everything. It especially shines on acoustic instruments and vocals (YMMV). Compared to the V67, IMO it's more neutral. It's insanely versatile and I would make it my desert island mic if I knew I could have phantom power. ;)

I don't record drums, so Richie will have to chime in on that one. My bluegrass band used it as the main mic for all of our performances until we broke up.

It rocks on toms and Djembe. I was very surprised to find that in the AKG mic selection guide, AKG's engineers preferred the C2000B to the C414 on toms and hand drums, making it their #1 choice among AKG mics. And- as has been pointed out in a recent thread, it's really a small diaohagm mic in a medium sized housing, as is AT4033. I also like it a lot on vocals, especially female and backing vocals. The V67 I know only through the opinions of others, which are quite variable. It seems the V67 is one of those mics people either love or hate. One of these days I'll get one for the hell of it. I agree that the C2000B shares many qualities with the AT4033, but is quite a bit less money.-Richie
