Ok, my very final mix is done. The last one would have been good, but the resample screwed a few things up. It's still at http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=1627&alid=-1 sorry about all the versions I've been putting up. I have everyone's so far, and I'll post what I think about them in a bit.

Nice work! the balance was great!
too much high end made the vocals really hiss in the beginning though.
Overall a fine balance of instruments and dynamics though.
:D

Thanks for the review. Yeah those vocals were pretty noisy, I didn't even have compression on them at all! I also had a de-esser on them too.
Here's my rundown on everyone else's mixes:

Lemontree- Pretty trebbley, but tight low end. Mids seem a little low. Good balance though, panning is good and wide. Not bad at all!

xFinsterx - Your first mix before the remix - Levels are good, mix seems a bit muddy and dark. Vocals sound quite good, good balance as well.

Remix - Pretty nifty, it's a totally new direction. Piano is a cool idea, maybe a little busy, but neat anyway. Cool delay on the stop, and I like how the guitars faded in like they did. Guitars sound good, maybe a little too distorted, maybe tucking a cleaner guitar part in the back somewhere would give it some more definition.

Vestast - Nice accoustic guitar, I like where the bass slides in, sounds good. Good snare sound too, maybe a little bit too much compression, I can really hear the compressor pumping. Sounds pretty good to me!

Rudilicious - **I can't load wma into nuendo, so this is on the computer speakers, not my monitors** Lotsa reverb, you'd probably be good with about half of what you have. Sounds like you duplicated the accoustic and hard panned it L and R, keeping the center clear. It's kinda loose in the low end, I'm pretty sure it's the reverb that's responsible for some of that. Good balance, and levels. Just cut some of the reverb and you've got a pretty good mix going.

Bennychico - **Couldn't download without registering, so I streamed it. Also through computer speakers, and 128 encoded mp3**

Guitar sounds pretty good, so do the vocals. Sounds good when everything kicks in, cymbals might be a bit to loud in parts, kind of overtaking the vocals at times. The keys might be a little quiet at times too, but over all not too shabby.

Craked Lid - *Same note as Benny's** Sounds good, good guitar and vocals. I might be hearing some compressor pumping a bit, but it's hard to tell on the computer speakers. Drums sound a little boxy, but good overall mix

Giles - By far the best accoustic sound, it really sounds great. What did you use on it, I hear a bit of dely and chorus, is that all? Good mix and balance, the low end sounds a little tubby though. Not bad at all!

I think that's everyone, if I missed someone let me know and I'll do theirs too!

You know what I just figgered out why it wont let you in. Instead of using dreamweaver to place the file I did it directly and with the permissions you probably are forbidden to touch it. :)

But then Nik D got a hold of it. :)

Let me know if you still cannot access it and I will resolve the issue ;)

hey nik. I never tell my secrets. LOL

Seriously I mix how I feel. So far as the low end. i Love bottom being a black guy that Loves R&B/hip Hop and Old school Pop to the hilt. :) I am sure it was bottom heavy. But then that is why there are mastering engineers. to tighten it right on up :) But then i did rush through this. Practice builds skills. :)

Come to one of the concerts I mix. LOL Bass in the face. :)

Glad you dug it. Not sure about this style of music so i gave it what I heard. :)

nope, still wont let me in!
Id like to hear your mix though.
Yeah i only use dreamwaever for my stuff, and havent had any probs.
The permissions must be bunking me somehow?
Maybe i can get nik D ta send it to my mail box? :D

I tossed Giles mp3 up on my server for whoever wants it, it's at

Nik Nice Job, Though I felt the section where the music comes in full should have been more impactful. yes them vocals iz bright. LOL

Tha panning of the Gtr and backing vocal is a tad different. Guess to much time mixing live shows done got me opinionated. I would have preferred them centered and let the mix build out side to side form there IMO. Otherwise, colors are nice, etc....

Thanks nik. I jumped into it from another computer and had no probs not sure what it is doing to fin.

Nik-
Thanks for reviewing mine. I was wondering if anyone was going to say anything about it. The drums were giving me problems...mainly because I didn't notice they were 48Khz at first and when I finally noticed I was being stupid I had to remix it all and Nuendo was giving me troubles. So i kind of just hacked it a bit and posted it. By the keys do you mean the synth there near the beginning? I actually didn't like to sound that much so that's probably why I turned it down. I really liked when the strings came in so I cranked that up and tried to build it up right until the end. The vocals I tried my pseudo-MS technique of copying the lead vocal twice, panning them hard L and R, switching the phase on one and adjusting the center vocal track in the timeline until it lined up where I wanted it to be in the spectrum. The guitar I also tried doubling that and putting on in the left and one in the right speakers...boosting the highs and getting rid of the lows on one to make it sound more like the neck of the instrument while accentuating more mids and lows on the other track. This gave it a kind of stereo guitar effect i think. I really wish I could have redone the drums though (resampled them or something).

As far as your mix goes...I like it. Guitar is spread out too far for my tastes but tone is nice. Vocals also seem a little airy on my speakers. I think the keys kind of cover up the vocals a bit there at the beginning. Also, you cut out the low bass string note at the end!! hahaha. you got an interesting snare sound out of it...did you resample that one? sounds a lot more snappy than mine. i like it overall though.
Does anyone else think in the 10 measure that chord should have been different?? It sounds like a major I chord in a minor key going to a III and then a minor i....am i right? Might be me, but I feel it clashes.

your mix sounded great!
only thing i could critiqe is the bass drum was a little overpowering IMO.
All else was smooth though.
Nice work on that guitar too!

Sorry benny ive been busy as hell the last couple a days man, but ive been meaning to review yours and rudalicious' posts.

I listened to your mix, and immediatly got the impression that there was some pumping going on in the guitars compression. And i agree with nik about the cymbals being a tad too loud.
On the bright side :) ..
I really dug how you boosted the toms and the change when the tom roll came in!
And your mix had a nice fullness to it as well.
About the chord yeah youre right! It should be Minor and i stroked that one string and it sorta geeked it huh?
But i drilled it in one take so i just let it be quirky.

Good job over all!
See ya at the pt forum!

rudes review.

well rude when i listened to your mix i felt as if i was hearing myself perform inside of a 10000 seat cathedral!
Wich IMO was interesting and fun.
However the down side to all that reverb, was it made the low end of the mix a little loose and smeared.
And it sounded like you may have overcompressed the mix a little too much.
Reason i say so is because when the dynamics of the song ascended the music started to sound squashed a bit.
The balance of the instruments was good though, and i did like the reverb, it just may have been a tad heavy though. ;)

Nice work all in all. :)

ya i was kinda messin around. the verb is only on that backup and i actually didnt compress the main mix at all. Just some of the instruments. haha. O well it was fun.
