please can someone tell me what the difference is between these softwares

Digital Perfomer
Reason
Pro Tools

is one better than the other, and why.

Big differences, but as far as sound goes that has more to do with your skills than the programs. If you wanna know the differences do some research you'll find answers all over this forum and on any website that sells the three.

Hey Myk,

Can't really answer your question because I use Cubase in my studio-- but I have used DP and like it for Mac-- but I was just curious if you are the same Myk from RAWK forums?

Welcome regardless.

Reason is a music making software and Cubase is a multitracking software... totally 2 different pieces of software...

Hi everyone,

Totally new to the forum thing. I just purchased Cubase SX and I am going to load it on my system tomorrow. I purchased a 3rd party manual that looks pretty good. I hear that it's a great program but somewhat difficult to master. Is that your take?

Take it one step at a time and you'll be just fine. It seems like a whole big pile of stuff, but if you think of it as a computer simulation of a multitrack recorder it gets much easier.

And you don't have to use anything that you don't understand --- just jump in as soon as you have the bare bones basics down and start recording some shit. Rember that it's just easily erased hardisk space and that the time invested will be well spent. The Cubase Task Force are not going to come around to grade you. Not in the first few weeks anyway...
