hi everyone,

sorry for yet another weird pre thread, but i have not found a decent comparison between these two using the search function.

i own the dmp3 and i like what i get for the money, but i really need to know wether or not the tubepre will give me the same in terms of 3D sound and dimension i get from the dmp3.

i really expect the tubepre to be at least the same as the dmp3 (in terms of cost the dmp3 is less for channel so that says something i guess, but we're talking about tube emulation so im not sure if i would be just paying for that concept or the pre itself), but with an added touch cause of the tube (i know its a starved plate and all that, but i really think of this as an added effect in the pre itself, rather than a true tube pre)...

i really need some strong opinions on this, i cant try out the tubepre and compare the performance so... :/

any opinions?

many tanx in advance.

Don't waste your money. If you want tube, save another $100 - $150 'till you can afford the Groove Tubes Brick.

how bout sticking to the choices he asked about, tdukex? or do you not have anything to say about them?

I own a presonus tubepre. When I got it, it was a huge imprvement over my behringer mixer. especially recording digitally. it dirties up the sound so you dont notice the ones and zeros so much. but now I am starting to doubt it as my recordings aren't as as "3d" or "wide" as some other people's who are using comparable stuff.

fellas,

tanx for the replies. My intention going with this pre was, to get at least the performance i get out of the DMP3, with a little "warmth" for effect..i know this wont get me where a real tube pre will, i really see the tube thing as "effect". I like the performance i get from the DMP3, gives me a 3D image i was not used to, i know it can get a lot beter than that, but im happy with it and its what i can afford. This tubepre would only be purchased if it gave me at least the same performance/dimension. If not, to hell with it

i can get the new electro harmonix tube pre, wich is not a starved plate...but it is more expensive and i need to cut corners. But its also probably worth a little saving up. Tanx everyone!

First, he only asked about one item, the Toob Pre. There was no "choice" to stick to (try comprehending his question). He also asked for strong opinions, which I gave. The Presonus Blue Toob that I heard is not even a step sideways from the DMP3 but is instead a step down.

So IMO he is better off saving a little extra cash and getting the Brick (a real tube preamp that even pros are using and recommending) instead of wasting his money on a toob pre that isn't even as good as the pre he already has. IMO that is the best advice he will get on this thread (certaintly better than your non-advice). If he doesn't want to take it, that is ok by me. :D

So...tell us, DR, what was it that you actually contributed to this thread other than your illiterate attempt at being a weenie? :D

Tdukex,

tanx for your input, thats exactly what i needed, ill keep the dmp3 then..

and fellas, dont fight over a shitty pre

im eyeing a tube-tech and the new EH all tube pre...then u can fight. :D
