hi- i am getting a kind of weird fuzzuzz sound when using pod connected to my soundblaster live card. i tried lowering the input levels on the card, but even at very low levels, i still hear it. the fuzzuzz stops if i set the pod volume levels at about 11:30. when i monitor the output of the card without the linein-checked in preferences
ecording, the buzz is gone. i don't hear the fuzzuzz when using a boss ME30 (another direct recording device). the sound is kind of a blown speaker rattle type thing, but my speakers are ok. incidently, the pod works fine full volume through my four track. any suggestions? thanks

Maybe the bass is cranked too loud... Or you might be getting noise from excessive compression...

try turning off your computer monitor and see if that helps.

thanks guys, but neither of these suggestions did the trick. the sound is, like i was saying, a kind of fried speaker sound, but it only does with the pod at high volume, even when my inputs on my soundcard and monitor amp are very low. any other ideas? thanks

I noticed the same problem with my POD and after playing around realized that it was the POD's compression effect. I turned it off and the crackle/buzz went away. I also realized that it happened when using my hot bridge humbucker and not the other stock pickups. Could be too much for the red bean to handle.

hi- rj, when you talk about the compression, are you talking about the compression on the front rotary dial, or when you are editing parameters with the software that comes with the pod? i am getting this sound even when i bypass all the effects, and i haven't hooked it up through midi yet. i am thinking the output level when cranked is simply to high for the input of my souncard. any other ideas? p.s. dave, the monitor does add a whole lot of noise, doesn't it?

Ok, I got a stupid question... how about just turning down the POD and turning up the soundcard recording volume? I had to do that with my 880 as I got the exact problem with the POD. I didn't investigate it any further, but I think it's that the POD doesn't handle the high volume levels well on some settings and in some situations. I've heard of other people having similar problems with it.

Don't know if this helps, but the outputs on the POD are line level, so they should go in the line in of the sound card or a line level plug of a mixer. I know on my Fostex FD-4, if I forget to switch my input level switch to line level I get shredd guitar sound no matter what--ala the Kinks.

Peace, Jim

That's weird my pod works better through the mic imputs on my mixer.

On line level, I have to crank everything way up.

I think their mic level outputs on the pod.

jon x- thats what i've been doing. i tried pretty much everything else i could think of. oh well. it still gets a pretty clean signal, even at half volume. i was kind of concerned about signal to noise ratio. i wonder if running it through a mixer would help. thanks everyone.
