Hi, me again, well, I betcha she'll answer when she wants the payment:D I know, my wife sells on ebay. Although her way of doing things is totally above board and cool.
Hey, any of you guys have a wife who has heard of "shabby chic"? Just wondering. No spam here. Ha! Well, whats the word on this collaboration guys? Anyone into it?

OH, btw, I just sent payment off for one of the tools. The guy had a PO box and wanted the payment mailed to a business name at that PO box. But wanted the money order made out to him. So I simply sent it delivery confirmation, where he gets a note in the PO box to go to the counter and sign for it. I didn't tell him that. Sooooo, if it's not on the up and up, he might not even sign for it. If he does, and it's still a scam, at least he has to show an ID and I got his signiture and PO Box #. Cost a few bucks but damn I'd hate to loose $800 which was only half the amount. I'd NEVER pay in full that much and go to pick something up only to find they'd scammed me. I'd KILL!!

Anyways, we'll see on the 520.

Say, does anyone know Sennheiser? Seems wierd he dropped outa here since he was such a regular poster. Just curious. I liked his posts. And we communicated via PM and email. But his email address is in my other computer in Sac. I emailed him before I left, but it came back undeliverable. Hmmm.

Well I'm down to one more auction on the tools tommorrow night. I've won everything I've bid on in the last few days, and have a BIG load to pick up in LA next week. And it's a long way from my town to LA. At least my folks live in Sacramento which is halfway, so I can stop for a nights rest going and coming. AND, I've got an even BIGGER load still in Sacramento. If I win the auction on the 520, thats in San Jose which is close to Tascams main plant. I'm going to stop over at Tascam parts and see if I can pick up a couple of things, like 122 cassette motors, and a couple of things for the MSR's. Anyone need anything while I'm at the STORE...ha! I'm not even sure you can do that but I'll investigate.

Nuff said. Later.

Oh, I thought it was in Montebello. Thats where I ordered my last parts from. I Think.
Boy, your quick.:D

Hey Reel, I'm sorry, I just read your reply that you were watching the 520 too! Man, like you said, I'd never bid against my friends here. Besides, I had something different in mind for it. Sooooo, if you want that, or any of you guys, I'm sorry. I was THINKING no one would see it where she listed it. What a moron. Of course you saw it.:p Again, my apology. Sometimes the notification thing allows me to come in where I don't see 2 or 3 replys above the one I click on. Duh!

Nah, bid on it if you want, but for either of us, the power supply is unknown status.

Anyway, jfyi, Montebello is in LA. That's down the I-5, right off the freeway and Slauson Ave. offramp, & you can't miss it.

It doesn't get more -L.A.- than that!;)

OK, cool. MAYBE, if ANYONE here wins the 520 and it doesn't have the PS, I'll ask some questions about it at Tascam. Hey NO TASCAM SITE:(
Anyhoos, I'd be willing to pick it up for anyone here if they win, and pack it CORRECTLY cause it doesn't sound like this gal can do it or even care. OH, that brings up something else. I emailed her about this thing EVEN being a 520. She stated the pic wasn't the one she had for sale, and hers was SIMILAR. SIMILAR my ass, it should be identical, thats why I asked her if INDEED it was a 520. Read her wording. It implys but not absolutely states it is. Well, I'm done.

If I were to win this bid, I'd take full payment with me in person,...

and if it did not include the power supply, or turned out not to be an M520 at all, then I'd just split. I'd be pretty pissed, though!

That's a long-assed drive for nothing!

- Oh, just visit the folks! - Ha.

I'll second or third the being suspicious thing about a seller who cant be reached for questions!!

About doing a collaboration project, I too have a 38 but no time code equipment:(

Maybe, we could send out wave files of our parts on the internet to each other and try a crude "hand sync" of the tracks?

Like herm lays down a drum part, puts it into a wave and IM's it to whoever wants it, (like me!) and then I could transfer it onto my MS16 or 38 add a few noises of my own, and send it off to the next participant in a wave file and so on, and so on...? It might end up as a giant bounce as each person adds their part, mixes it into a stereo wave and sends it off.

Or, we could Fed-ex a reel around the country for a year?

Cheers! :)

Hello GFM, well, maybe if I can get an 8 trk, I could lay the first timecode track down with my midiizer. I have two other small units that will read and generate SMPTE, so I'd just send one along with the tape. One is a JL Cooper, one a yamaha. Would that work?

Rick,

I know squat about time code!

That's why I bought an MS16. I thought that with 16 tracks to play with, I would never need to lock that up with anything else. Even my keyboards which have a 16 track synchronizer and midi in and out on them, I just play the parts live to tape and mix from there.

I kinna hate anything that involves computers when it comes to tracking!

Perhaps fed-ex'ing a tape is our best shot at doing it like the old pros used to in the 70's?

Though, I remember an article from Mix magazine about hi fi telephone lines for studios that had a 50 - 15Khz response with little noise or distortion and some studios back in the day used to send their mixes direct to the next studio via this method.

Obviously the internet would easily replace that but, we need to figure out a way to keep the analog purity.

I am putting on my tinfoil thinking cap and will ponder this further!

What shall be our first song??

I suggest, "Quest for Saw"!!!!

12 bar blues with lots of room to showcase everybody's talents!!

Cheers! :)

Me too, I'm certainly no digital person. Just give me a strat!

I suggest, "Quest for Saw"!!!!

That sounds great to me. I love the blues.

Hey, last night for the first time I scrolled through the MP3 forum till I found your post. Read all the "reviews". Man, within a half hour, the "viol"
trio guy, Patrick, PM'd me with some questions on building his studio. That was cool.
Those were very nice reviews, and can't wait to get my audio stuff set up to download your song and give it a listen. Nice people too. A lot nicer than some of the forums I've visited. Anyway, yea, however you want to do it, I'm in. So lead on Ghost.

OH:eek: "Quest for saw" huh? Hahahahahahahaha! Didn't quite catch on at first.

I'll take a stab at laying down the basics of Quest for Saw this weekend and post an MP3 of it here, if I can find the time and inspiration to get that done!

If you guys like the structure, herm can take the MP3, dump it onto his 38 as a guide track to play the drums to it and we'll see from there who wants to do the next part.

I'll just put down a simple rhythm pattern, a bass, a rhythm guitar and the vocals as a template for us to have something to work from. Once the real parts are down, the guide track can be erased.

If this is going to be an 8 track production, we could lay it out this way on tape.

Tracks 1 & 2 - Drum kit

Track 3 - Bass

Track 4 - Rhythm guitar

Track 5 - Lead guitar

Track 6 - Keyboards (organ)

Track 7 - Lead vocal

Track 8 - backing vocal

I would love to at least sing the lead part on the final version and maybe play bass but I am open to suggestions.

Sound feasible?

Hello Ghost, I think that sounds wonderfull. How bout you herm?

What key?:D

Do you use the 60 chord system notation Ghost?

Do you use the 60 chord system notation Ghost?

LOL! I wish I could read music. Sadly, I play by ear. It usually gets me by and is probably why I shy away from doing covers.

I can sing fairly comfortably in the keys of E, G, F and solo pretty well there for blues stuff but I'll probably lay it down in E for the guide track as the opens are more comfortable for me to play guitar in.

I play lap style and use my thumb and first two inside fingers to play chords. I also play left handed with a right handed and stringed guitar. If you have ever seen Jeff Healy play, you will get the idea of how I play as well and, I was doing that before Jeff Healy was ever heard of more then 25 years ago at this point.

Did I mention, I was weird??:D

Cheers! :)

If by notation, you mean chord charts, I can work with those...
