Phasing issue on a single hit of a tabla. How do I fix?

So I recorded this Tabla with a single good microphone, and on the upper mid range transients, the entire hit goes to the sides. The rest of the frequencies are fine, they sit mono like they are supposed to, but it is one single hit.

Sample of the sound is as follows. It is the first hit and happens again half way through. I look at this on a phase meter and it definitely does something weird. Is this fixable? It happens for a VERY long song, over and over and over. Its fine on a stereo system, but I am worried of mono compatibility.

copy paste the link cause the forum won't let me post a link.

You're clipping the left channel somewhere in your signal path. The signal is panned a bit to the left making the left channel louder except when it clips, which momentarily moves the image to the right a bit. It happens fast enough to have minimal effect on the lower frequencies.

It's just too loud. If it needs to be that loud in the mix, insert a limiter on it to catch a couple db when he his it a little harder.

bad mono

looking at the wave, there is an issue, you don't have good stero tracking. please list the gear used.

the pattern looks like a small dc offset is going on besides leaning to the left like its panned .
