The next time

you run across one of those down-market LPs with cheap tuners and a cheap, non-adjustable tailpiece, you let me know. And I won't mind road rash. :D

So why not just sell it and buy the SG with P-90s?

Or are you one of these guys that has to have them both on the same guitar?

Why don't you just sell your car and buy one with the tires you want already on it?

What about Fralins?

Does anybody have any experience with Lindy Fralin split-single pickups, such as his P-92 or Twangmaster? I'm toying with the idea of swapping split-singles in place of the 'buckers, on my Ibanez Artcore AG75TBS, or I might let myself have a G.A.S. "attack" and buy an Epiphone WildKat, which already has P-90s. For my original surf guitar instrumentals, I've found my personal surf guitar "voice" with my two P-90 equipped Les Pauls...Epiphone Les Paul Jr. 90 and Gibson Les Paul Faded Double Cutaway. Here's a link to the web page describing Lindy Fralin's humbucker products, which includes the two split-single models that I've already mentioned...

Is it just me, or does everyone have the question backwards? It sounds to me like he has p90s and wants a full sized HB.
My wife bought me a Gibson LP Special a few years ago.It came with p100s(a stacked, humbucking version of the p90.)Being the superficial motherfucker that I am, I hated the soapbar look.I swapped out the p100s with a set of allparts minihumbuckers.I love the sound, bigtime!
To answer the original question, as I understand it, you can't swap out p90s for a full humbucker without routing. The cavity is a little too small.
If I have it all wrong, blame the beer and percocet! :)

The P90's are both longer and not as wide as humbuckers, so that's not a routing job for the faint hearted.

I just put a pair of P94's into a SG clone that I have and they sound awesome. They're humbucker shaped. Worth checking out.
