Outboard EQ

Hi,
There seems to be few parametric outboard EQ's available on the market (certainly ones worth putting your money into), I know about the speck range (out of my range currently), the only other one I can find is this one that I know nothing about and have seen no reviews of; for the price I'm assuming there would be very little difference between this and the EQ on my D16:

I'm probably going to have to wait and save up for one of the speck range.

I bought the Behringer Ultra-Q from Digital Village for £80. I bought it to use on vocals while I save for a Speck or TL Audio. I'd say it's better than I expected though I don't exactly push it. Did wonders for my drum machine when I tried it on that. It seems better than the EQ on my mixer - a Soundcraft Spirit F1 - but I'm not exactly an experienced EQ user. What it definitely sounds better than is the FASoft software EQ I was using till now.

Artwork; how did you get it for £80? It's currently £160 at digitalvillage, as opposed to the £250 at sounds live; might be worth getting one.
 
Ahh sorry, the one I bought is the Non-tube version. I knew about the tube one but didn't know it was also called the Ultra-Q. Sorry for getting your hopes up.
 
Yeah; I'm well aware of the speck range but there a bit out of my range at the moment.
 
Does anyone think it's worth paying twice the price for a tube model? I know all the benfits of valve gear, but isn't most cheap tube gear just solid state with a lower powered tube that glows and makes the sound just a bit dirtier (on noisier?)
