I am using a Bassman 135 with the original Fender tubes in it from the 70`s. It still sounds great, and with the 4x10 and 15 folded horn it mashes and punches sweetly. The ceramic is cracked on two of the tubes from the heat over the years, but no problems. Should I change them? If so what should I put in it, whats out there? I was partial to GE 6l6's many years ago when I used tube amps. What's a good price to pay for a quad matched set?

Eventually you will need to replace them. I get all my tubes from eurotubes.com. If you tell the guy what you are using them for, he will recommend the right thing. JJ teslas are very good tubes.

Yeah that site is great. I ordered some tubes last week, Bob sent them out the day i ordered them. He also gave me detailed instructions on how to bias my amp and saved me 35 bucks and an hour drive. He sells nothing but great tubes too.

Those prices are decent too. I emailed him and described my needs. Site looks like a really thumbs up place to me.

Any other tube POV's ? I thought it might be a somewhat more controversial issue? Like maybe preferences in design, heat transfer, microphonics, crunch, matching accuracy....
