I've been pretty happy with the Oktava mk012 x2 drum over head setup ....with an ATM pro 25 this has been working pretty good with the Fletcher 3 mic technique....

I've noticed though that the toms sound pretty thin.....I'm assuming its because I'm trying to use SDC's when LDC's would work better....

A few have mentioned the Mk 319 LDC's as possible drum overheads....has anyone used these mics as drum overheads and if so, what type of positioning???

If you have them, why not use them on the toms? One on the rack toms and one on the floor tom would beef it up a bit. As far as I know the 012's have a much better overhead sound.

kind of limited with inputs right now.....

I only have 4 inputs to work with for the time being so I'm trying to make this work with 4 mics.....

good suggestion, though.....

get an sm57 and put that on the snare, and then put the mc012s over the floor tom and the other over the left cymbol

It would be nice to hear from folks who have raved about the mk 319's for overheads, placement, and why they seem to like them, as I hear they are a bit on the dark side (for overs)

I'm using MC012's as overs but want to switch out my sm57's (on toms) for SP B-1's, I a/b'd the two and the detail of the B-1 was so much clearer over the 57's ...... was wondering how mk319 LD mics as overs would work with LD's on toms?

thanks
