HOSA
Cerwin-Vega Pro
OAP

Just to name a few..

I did post a list once because some people asked me to.

The bottom line here is that none of us really knows what deepwater's intentions are or aren't. I for one have no problem with him, I have no real reason to either. Should this thread be allowed though? NO!

Whatever the "intentions" were, it is clearly spam, and the disclaimer, in my opinion makes it even "spamier". I have not been here for two days and was unaware of Harvey's banning. Bottom line, he had a couple threads that were clearly and blatently spam, and thats a direct violation of the rules. It's sad to see him go, but what good are rules if there are exceptions. Where does the line get drawn? Can I now advertise my lines here? I would rather see Harvey 'warned" and have the spam posts removed, but that not my decision. At the same time, there are a few other threads that may need to be removed as well.

When I look at it, I actually think this thread is even worse than Harvey's spam thread. At least his thread was clearly SPAM in the subject heading and not purely disguised. The problem with all this is that the end user doesn't really get any advantage out of these threads. How do the users know they really are getting a good deal? Not that this is what is happening, but what if the Wharfedales really aren't such a good monitor? What if in two years people realize they could have bought something better for the same price? Blah blah blah. That may be a bad example because I personally think the Wharfies probably are a good deal. However, my point is still the same. How can someone really trust that the Soundcraft is the best console for them when all the info they are getting is from the Soundcraft dealer? They CAN'T! it may be the best thing for them, but without objective feedback, they will never know. When dealers start peddling there stuff on these forums, than the forums have turned into an online Guitar Center.

In the end though, I think it is very valuable to have dealers and manufactureres on here. I don't even mind if they do post a price oir something, but only when solicited. In fact, most of the time I don't even post a price directly in the forum, but send a PM instead if someone has directly asked me for more information. Also, I don't start threads concerning things that I sell.

What I think we should do is bring Harvey back, put him on "HR Probation", and delete all of his SPAM threads and any other threads where dealers have open sold items or continually posted prices. Lets keep this a place to learn and discuss rather than a place to buy or sell. That will allow some sort of integrity to be maintained.

Maybe we should have a forum besides the marketplace one for dealers to post stuff whether it be prices or product info.

Just my 2 cents, I am now fully braced for the childish flames from the poor masses so let em rip:D

I forgot a few -

Tascam
Mackie
Soundcraft
Yamaha
Midas
Klark-Teknik
Telex
EV

So now you don't sell Soundcraft? After the great amount of posts as to the incredible sound of the little Soundcraft mixers?

I just can't believe this pile of turds is still here. :D

Soundcraft does make great products thats why I choice to be a dealer for them. I also stated more than once I like them alot more than Mackie and I sell Mackie. Just because I'm a dealer for a company does not make may post are biased. I'm a dealer for Behringer but I don't sell their stuff to knowbody.

These a differance between a dealer and a shareholder in a company

You just said above that you don't sell Soundcraft. My comment was not really meant as an attack, but more of a statement.

You are right as well, there is a big difference between a dealer and a shareholder. The dealer probably makes a lot more money than a shareholder.

You are also right about the fact that just because you carry a line does not make you biased. However, it certainly increases the chances. In fact, you should be a little biased towards a product you carry or else you probably shouldn't carry it.

I have tried those little Soundcrafts. Honestly, the Mackie Onyx is right there with them. Not the VLZ crap, but the Onyx's.

Anyway you look at it though, this whole thread is purely advertising, or what is known here as SPAM. If your intent was purely to notify people that "Oktava is coming back to the US" then thats what it would have been about. However, you immediately notified everyone here that you would be carrying the line and would sell it cheaper. How is that not SPAM?

Personally, I have nothing against you, or your selling stuff at a good price to HR members. I personally am very opinionated about what I do and don't like, but thats OK, it's just me. However, I carry lines as well, but I don't push them here. I already thought the Wharfedale posts were definately borderline SPAM, but this one is completely across that line. Not even in the grey area. I am not going to go running to any moderator or anything, I won't talk negatively about you or anything like that, but I will stand on principle and not hide what I do or don't think. It's one thing if someone asks you about a price or something, but this post was started by you about something that you stated you will sell. The disclaimer in my opinion only adds to that. If it were up to me, this thread would be gone.

Ok then,

Deepwater, please give me your prices and information on the new Oktava products you carry.

:D
Now everyone is going to hate me, but at least they can't call it spam anymore....

Deepwater, you consistently exercise, truly, an incredibly-poor command of the English language and horrible spelling...are you from a country other than the U.S.? Oh, I'm sorry, that's rude. But, come on, man, if you're going to be a businessman, you really need to spell correctly and sound half-way intelligent...or, hell, maybe not.

My vote: Harvey be banned -- Deepwater be banned. But maybe Deepwater's bending over for somebody with leverage...oh, I'm sorry, that's rude. Deepwater does sound like a good gay porno name, though.

Bodhisan,

you are a rude, crude and downright distasteful sumbitch......

damn i like you :D

Gidge,

To use a Deepwater word, there ain't "knowbody" I'd rather be called a sumbitch by than you.

A business man is paid for what he knows not what he does. Take yesterday for example. I made one sale and earned $1300.00 (4x Stewart World 2.1 Amps and 2x Wharfedale dual 18's) I'm also doing an install in Fla with a net profit of $36,000.00. I get paid for my ears and knowledge of live sound, not my typing skills.

I also own a flooring company (Golden Isles Tile and Stone, LLC) which earns me an extra $65,000.00 a year on top of Professional Sound, INC's $100k. To top it off I'm only 26 years old.

The point here is to those who may lack some education or tring to make a good living. You can make a good living and don't have the be the most book smart person out there. My father was lucky to spell his name right and dropped out of school in the 8th grade. He spent 24 years in the Marines before starting the flooring company that I know own and run.

My wifes brother has a PHD and can't tie his shoes. The other day his car ran out of gas and he had no clue what happend. So he has it hauled to the mechanic.

Deepwater was chosen because I love offshore fishing. I live on coastal Georgia and spend a lot of time in the summer deep sea fishing on my 32' center console boat named Deepwater.

No I'm not gay. I'm happily married with an 11 month old boy. I'm an asst. youth leader and technical director at my church.

I think the key words here are maturity and character. :)

....that explains alot deepwater :) lol well i book bands in and around north carolina with an income ranging from $20-300. I'm an editor for the local newspaper's website. I'm a male stripper even though people pay me not to get on stage. I'm a professional musician whos "in between gigs". I havent seen a profit on my home studio recording but thats not that big a deal to me right now.

distortedrumble was chosen because i like point my amp against windows and palm muting a few chords and then going all out on a song to see if i can make the window shake and then possibly shatter. i havent "shattered" a window yet but i did crack one.

Fuckin figures. Got the business handed to him. You have to love guys like this who claim they worked their asses off and are so smart but wouldn't have gotten anywhere if it weren't for their daddy's money. Sorry, but that's what it sounds like to me.

[edit]

And you know what, after hearing this from you, I wouldn't buy a god damn guitar pick from you. You and your, "I'm just trying to help out my buddies cause they are all too poor to pay retail prices"

[/edit]

I got the Flooring company when my father passed away 2 years ago. I start Professional Sound long befor that with my own hard earned money from waiting tables at Cracker-Barrel.

I was luck to have a friend that ran the FOH for Van Halen who let me work for him for free to learn live sound. I traveled with him do installs in Fla. and Ga. He did feed me.

I don't see people as poor. I see them as working for a goal and I like to help when I can

well if you want to open up a deepwater studio in greensboro, NC. I'm your man. lol

I hate seeing threads turn to personal jabs. Whats the point? How about we try and stick at least somewhere close to the topic at hand. Even if the company was handed to Deepwater, that has no bearing on anything here at all. If the company is succesful, it's because it's doing good business. If it wasn't, it would be gone.

As for the typing skills, I don't care. I am the king of mispelt wurds. Not because I can't spell, but because I can type as fast as my brain tells me what I want to say. That, and I rarely spellcheck or proof read my posts:D
