this is a really cool album...you guys should check it out.

very intimate sound, and stripped down but really nice production.

I love the second track "Seven Years"...it's kind of a nice acoustic jazz album.

the first track "Don't Know Why" is actually getting a lot of top40 radio play <shrug>

Funny what execs decide to put up the money for from time to time.

Thank God they took a chance on Norah, though. I think the whole album is tremendously impressive. I certainly wish more labels would take that cue, and actually start putting out really good music, as subjective as that actually is. Oh well, what can ya do...

yeah...exactly. I mean...if the big 5 majors would each get behind some real talent maybe 2-3 times a year....and let some good art get a spotlight...like this nora album..i'd be much happier with them.

Becuase I am not really into "underground" music...too much. Just becuase of the way it's done most of the time. Like, you can tell that this nora album had a lot of money behind it...and, god bless it...becuase it sounds awesome and I can't get enough of it.

I was thinking...hmm, I want to buy a CD today...check out some new music...but you know what....I was in Media Play for about 45 minutes....couldn't find a CD I wanted. I'd like to see 15 titles a year that are a little more risky...but, totally supported...they'd have my money.

Thank you for starting this thread!!

I love Norah. Did you know she's Ravi Shankar's daughter?

Anyway, this is the first new artist I've heard in quite a while that really impressed me. Some stuff on the radio's OK, but before Norah's release I hadn't been, "Oh my God, this stuff has that 'X' factor ..." for years. Last time was Tori Amos.

I guess that tells you something about my musical preferences.

I DO have diverse tastes, really.

Of course, if anyone in the know wants to comment on how the producers/engineers/artists got things to sound as they did on this CD, we're all ears...

She is an equally captivating live performer. This year's South By Southwest was relatively weak compared to former years, but looks like she's the big breakout artist. Everyone was talking about her showcase...
