This is the second song Iv'e created since setting up a home studio and since joining homerecording.com. The first song I spoke about in a previous thread months back as I was just starting out and getting frustrated with the whole recording, mixing, mastering process. So Iv'e gone back to basics taken my time and have come up with this song. It's a dance/lounge piece.

This is the first song Iv'e recorded, mixed and mastered using Cubase 5. All instruments are synths. Any feedback of any kind is welcome. If your not a fan of this style of music then feedback on the technical aspects i.e eq, mixing, e.t.c is welcome cheers :)

This doesn't sound like a first attempt at anything.

What I mean is, that I think it sounds too "right" to be a first attempt. It's very good, but I think you're being disingenuous to state that it's a "first attempt" at recording and mastering. If I'm wrong, then I apologise.

Well technically it's my second recording, the first I posted up a few months back and it was a mess, mixing was terrible I had no idea how to use eq e.t.c so I scrapped the song altogether and decided to do a song with "instruments" where I could understand how they work and sound e.g piano. This is technically the first song that where I have gone through all the general steps to recording a song i.e recording/mixing/mastering I only ever got to the recording stage on my previous song. To be honest this did take me two months to do and I'm studying at the moment so I have alot of time on my hands. I appreciate you saying it's very good. I posted it on here because I tend to be a poor judge on my own music. I thought this song was good too, but I also thought the same of the last song I recorded and it was crap. So I am being honest when I say this is my first complete recording.

It sounds reasonably well done.
The mix seems pretty well balanced and tidy.
I REALLY wanted to hear a vocal - just me and my 20th Century expectations.
Good work.

That's really nicely done, Swarm; a tight, clean sound. While vocals would be nice over the top, I gather you're going for more of a "dance-beat" sound, and one could certainly dance to this. What are you using for the drum tracks?
