Hi, I have just started recording (trying to) on my laptop using a tascam us122. i have installed 3 versions of cubase and all have given me the same annoying problem, namely a crackling sound during monitoring and playback. No amount of changing the resolution, latency or input level makes the slightest difference! Please help me get started or i might be tempted to dust down the tape 4 track again!

I've been having that exact same problem with my Tascam and Cubase. Sorry I'm not much help!

What kinda computers are you all using? How much RAM? You need plenty o' RAM, and make sure you're not running any background software or other USB devices.

I'm using an HP with 512 MB of RAM.

(Sorry don't mean to take over your topic! Just figured it'd be pointless to start a new one on the same thing. :) )

Use the task manager to see what processes are running and try thinning that list out. Antivirus programs are notorious resource hogs.

I did that, still nothing. I guess I will just keep on trying. :).

well i can confirm this is also an hp (nx6125) and also runnning 512 ram ..... tascam are saying it might be a bad unit .....

I hope that isn't the case with mine. I'll have to look into it more.
