Jeff, I just have to repeat what I've said at the begining: "...btw, I am not being harsh, I am being actually too nice".

So, if I follow you line of thinking here; I should be able to berate you and all your ideas without any regard to actually knowing you or what your ideas even are and then end it off with a cute line about "really being too nice" and having that excuse and annul my attack on you?

Try that shit on someone else, buddy! :D

Please! :p

Cheers! :)

Lets be nice... at least until I'm in a bad mood. That shouldn't be too long. :D

arghhhhhhh,
on the "subject" of "attacking a man he does not know.

You see, this is a part of the bigger problem. The bigger problem is that there is no "man to attack". And so a "man on the street" is set to accept anything and everything without a chance to do a thing about it, not even in the form of a simple reply. There's no one to reply to. It's just walls, some doors, offices and some windows.
There's a TITLE, there's a BRAND, there are bunch of things like "co.", "inc.", "TM" etc.
A "man on the street" (or to be more specific - his intelligence) can be offended and IS being offended on a daily base. Nobody is being ashamed for that, because there is no one there to begin with.
ARE YOU ALL ADVIL? yet, if not - GO HERE!
There you'll see a bunch of nice people swinging in and out: happy mom with the kid, powerful business-woman at the hights of her career, a happy retiree at the end of his career, and a friendly blondy (that one must be "one of us", that's for sure :D ). Don't say a bad stinkin' word about them, Don't you dare. They are just nice people who do their job. And if you do open your dirty ugly mouth - SHAME ON YOU!

There's no shame inside the corporate jungle however. No such thing, no such concept. Every one in there just doing his/her job. Shamelessly and proudly so.

so, are you all advil, yet?

You can try this. Why not? :D Let's do it. :D :D

also, I am not sure what "actually knowing you"-element has to do with ideas and opinions clash.

And to think... that whole marketing angle all started with these people... and the reason we need advil in the first place, by the way. :D

DR. ZEE didn’t really start it; Digidesign started it by making claims similar to those they and other manufacturers have made in the past about similar products. He just started a thread.

One thing needs to be clear here. You don’t need to try every single product that comes down the pike to know that the technology behind something won’t work as advertised.

How one evaluates a claim all comes down to a person’s technical background or lack thereof. Past experience with similar claims can be of value as well.

Analog is a buzzword. Companies want to jump on it and even redefine it to their advantage. Substance takes a backseat to perceptions.

In a way the whole thing is interesting, as we have a very poorly made presentation with the video rather than the usual polished brochure that can make cow dung look like something you just gotta have.

In some strange instant karma sort of way maybe the presentation matches the quality of the product for a change. It's not often we catch a glimpse of a company in the morning before they've had a chance to shower and put makeup on. It’s worth a thread or two at least... and another picture, IMO. :)

I don't want to be traumatized by any more pictures of frog legs. :D
...or by a picture of a knob or two for under $200-500 depending on the title ? ;)

on the "subject" of "a product he had never heard".
I actually have less problems with the product itself (if any at all!) than with the fact that people are willing to test it.

Well, personally, I don't believe that simulating the auditory effect that analog tape recorders place on the input signal should be all that difficult to re-create in a digital environment. We're basically talking about dealing with a few EQ changes to represent the non-flat EQ curves that all analog tape recorders produce to varying degrees with different calibration, tape formulations, levels, speed, head bump wear conditions, a bit of compression and harmonic distortion as well as a slight smearing of the sound-stage because of adjacent channel cross talk and voilà, you've got your modeling effect.

To have a problem with someone who is at least willing to audition such a product to actually hear with their own ears if the effect is realistic or not is a subject that is better dealt with by speaking with your local neighborhood head shrinker. :D

Cheers! :)

that is expected. I can rather clearly picture such "event". I've been in 'places'.

People get 'exited' by things of their choosing based on effect that things impose on their state of mind.
The actual Properties and Values of things do not reflect (nor relate in any way to) choices, that people make.

MCI, I have no plans to go away anywhere soon. So don't count on it. Some day, maybe. So then you can take a deep breath of "fresh air" and do your thing here without obstacles. As for today you and all and every 100 more things that you will "remember about" later still are being watched.

My "thing" is to give advice based on experience and as many actual links to facts I give people. You have never backed anything you say with any resource. All you do is start shitfests and hi-jack threads to bash people with your corny ramblings. That is all ZEE. As I said, love you buddy. All is good.

I don't have any problems WITH PEOPLE who are willing. I have problems with the FACT THAT people are willing. That is reality. I deal with it.

I deal with such "advice" as well (and not so rarely). I can't get mad at people who "advise", I rather feel sorry for them :p

What comes from THE Source needs no backing from a resource.

Something that needs backing from a resource should never be presented as a claim to begin with. To be presented "It" just needs a pointer to the source within the resource.

Whew! That was a close one.

This thread almost slipped into oblivion.

We can't have that can we? :)
