4)make sure your interface works well with your computer and software
or if your really on a budget get a mic with usb and plug it into your computer.... (for superb performance,sound and versatility this is a waste of money). If your just looking to record your voice, this would probably be my suggestion.
You probably should buy a beginners book. It's surprising to me that we (this forum or any other forum) don't have a place to point people to cover the basics. If it wasn't for tweakheadz guide, I would of never made it this far.
There's just too much to cover and you should have too many basic questions.
What software should I use, what interface, is this computer fast enough for what I want to do? what's buffer and sample rate?Whats MIDI? Is my hd fast enough for what I want to do? ect.
each individual will have different answers for themselves or others depending on needs,reliability,experience,price ect.
Bottom line if your gonna spend a lot of money like I did...read,read,research
I spent over a year of my spare time figuring out how I wanted to build my home studio. I didn't have the money but knew I was coming into some. Anyways, it prevented me from buying something stupid at least I think so
