Thats what the gear snobs will tell you.

I stick a cable up my left nostril and go into the mic in of my soundblaster, sounds just as good as any 'microphone'.

If you want a stereo recording you'll need a splitter cable and you'll have to use both nostrils concurrently.

Hope this helps.

I know a studio in town that uses them but I think you can probably do just as good without.

Check out Behringer....they may have something you can use thats waaaay cheaper.

you guys are the best, thanx, you helped loads
Hey no problem, just remember the shortest signal chain rule. A mic is just a load of unnecessary circuitry which will actually DEGRADE your audio.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but these guys are WRONG! You will need a mic for all of your pre-recorded loops, samples, midi stuff, and to mic all of your DI instruments.

Could you post a link to where I could get some help with all of this?
Thanx again guys.
