Hello, I am a newbie when it comes to home digital recording.
The "salesman" said the BR-8 was the was to go.
I want to record Pennywhistle tunes into it.
Then I want to do all the backing tracks on a Roland??? or
whatever the suggestions would be for a keyboard that would
give me the sounds of all the Celtic instruments (fiddle, harp, pipe
drones, squeezebox).
Please help, is this the best way for me to make my first C.D.???

You've come this far, never hurts to try. If it's good, its good, if not, erase it and do it again. Good luck to you...

You have a very powerful and easy to use tool there with the BR-8. As anyone will tell you on this site, play around with it and see what it can do for you - some stuff you'll use all the time, others you won't. I've had mine for three months and am still finding new things on it - I haven't gotten to know it well enough to really begin recording... in time.
Have fun...

Hey Rubio,

The Br-8 is a great recording machine. I've had mine for over a year and love it....still finding cool things to do with it...

Anyway,

You can record just about anything you want...guitars, Bass, vocals, keyboards, drum machines, etc....

Your gonna have to just sit down and experiment with different things until you find the sounds you like...

It has a ton of COSM effects ( COSM is composite object sample modeling), which is to say, it has a ton of guitar and amp effects for different sounds...really great quality sounds....

You can record only up to 2 inputs at the same time, but for a solo artist like yourself or me, it's prefect for that.

As far as the sounds your looking for, it's just a matter of finding the right instrument to create that sound...the BR-8 can certainly handle anything you want to records through it....

You really just need to to sit down with it and experiment....

To answer your other question abpout 250MGB drives...

Yes, I beleive they are available for the BR-8, however I read that installing the 250 drive works well but will void your warranty....use caution !!

There has been other discussion in here about that....but since your just starting out, I would strongly suggest not changing anything yet until your comfortable with your machine and how it works....JMO...

Good Luck.

Telegib.
