this is the wife. ok, the guitar and drums do not sound like bon jovi, the vocals however, remind me of cheesy 80s music. maybe bon jovi was the wrong 80s band... but the vocals are cheesy

Actually, at least you're probably just trying to be honest. All my wife ever says whenever she hears something of mine is, "sounds good", regardless of how awful it sounds.

The vocals aren’t bad, and neither is the music, but they don't sound like they are in the same space. It’s like the vocal is too wet and the instrumentation too dry to my ears.
