New Pres to go along with FIREPOD

I have a FIREPOD and it allows me to bypass two preamps, therefore i was thinking of getting two preamps. I want something that is pretty versatile. I will probably be using it for the overheads in drums, vocals, and DI bass. Oh yeah, i was thinking that for both preamps i would be spending around 500. So far I was thinking maybe the RNP.

For that budget, you really can't go wrong with the RNP.

If you want two channels of really clean preamps that will reveal a lot of detail, take a look at the D&R preamps

I've been using a sixQ with mine. I've gotten a variety of cool tones by blending it with the Firepod pre's. It sounds good on it's own too.

Is it Ok to use outboard pres combined with the firepod pres?

The FIREPOD allows you to bypass all the preamps. The jacks are just in different places for different inputs. On channels 3-8, the line input is the 1/4" jack in the middle of the XLR connector. On channels 1 & 2, those 1/4" jacks are instrument preamps, and the line inputs are on the back.

For $500 I'd probably save my money or pick up a mic or something else. You're not going to net much difference on 2 preamps in that price range typically. The Firepod preamps really are pretty good.
