crEEK, thanks for listening and for the input. If I could write lyrics like you, I might be in good shape. I'm telling you man, I like your song, "You".

Anyway, I haven't gigged or played out since I was in my early to mid 20's. I miss it. The only thing I don't miss is the conflicts that always seemed to break us all up. I guess we just weren't strong bands, or it wasn't meant to be, or I was just a horrible individual to deal with on a musical level, Pah!!!

Thanks again for listening and I'm glad you enjoyed the song.

I understand where you're coming from, but for whatever it's worth I think you should at least do some solo acoustic stuff every now and then. Those songs deserve to be heard!

Morning Light is very cool. I did hear a little Corey Glover in the vocals on the chorus (the ex Living Color guy) and it sounds great. I always liked his voice for the style of music they did, and you nailed it on the "Morning light don't come too soon" line while maintaining plenty of originality and still sounding like you. I'd like to hear that chorus extended a couple of times at the end. Great job.

crEEK, you mean, like, play out live somewhere? By the way, thank you again.

Jon X, "Corey Glover"!!! That's his name... I couldn't freakin' remember that dude's name. Cool. You know, I used to listen to them a whole lot. I think I wore out my tape right where "Cult of Personality" occupied that thin strip. Sounding like him was completely subliminal.. actually, I'm not sure of that, because I used to sing like I do way back before Living Colour... Although, I really did like their music... What's become of them?

After listening to this song again (and again), I really think this could be a monster hit.
Also, let me clarify an earlier comment... I meant a 30 second "ending" guitar solo, and maybe a few extra choruses to finish out the song... It's so good that I just want it to keep going. :)
Rock on!!!

Pop? Fergitaboutit!
That tune hit me like a 2X4 across my head.
Great structure, catchier than your Teletubbie influence...More!!!

Buck62, I'm really glad you like it. Thanks much for the encouragement. Man, you're right though about the length of the song. My songs have been getting shorter. I think when I do my next one, I'm really going to try and concentrate more on the content and not on getting "another one out the door". I've been feeling like that lately. Thanks again - you're too kind.

Dougie, thanks for listening, man, and sorry about the 2X4, ha. I actually really dig listening to this song myself. I don't usually bounce around when I'm listening to my stuff... well, actually I do, just not as much as when I'm listening to Morning Light. I'm working on my next one. It should be a lot "harder" than Morning Light's style, but then again, Morning Light was nothing like I had mapped out. Go figure. Thanks again!

It's just a tad heavy for pop (the guitars in the intro). But the chorus is definately very poppy.

The verse is pretty cool, talking about the 2 vocal parts.

I like the chorus melody, and your guitar work is great as always.

Do you do this stuff for a living?

MrLip, maybe "Pop/Rock" or "Rock/Pop"? Thanks for listening and for the compliment, by the way.

-- for a living? I wish, ha! I really really wish (break for daydream - be back shortly)...

Okay, I'm back. I actually survive by doing webdevelopment - shameless plug http://www.tekawebdesigns.com

Great Tune. Don't worry about the genre :D
I think they call these powerpop or alterna-pop. Very slick production, noone can guess it's a one man effort ;) We're quite similar, i think. I recorded everything myself on my mp3s :D

Well, I decreased the low end on the guits to make room for the bass. I initially upped the high end ever so slightly also, but it gave me that "high-freq" headache thing... that's like having a gas leak in your house... you can't really tell what's happening, but you get a headache and pass-out... So I ended up only decreasing the lows freqs... I don't know if it made the difference it needed to get the bass to come through more. I can definitely here the bass on the chorus, but on the verse rhythms, it's iffy. Could be the way I'm playing the guitars too cause I'm muting the strings with my right hand, tends to bring out the low ends on my recordings when I do that... heck, I don't know. The remixed version is here http://mp3.com/smartapple if anyone who heard the first one wants to compare... Thanks again!

burak, thanks for listening. Yeah, I think most of us here are similar in that way -- Doing all the instruments and vocals ourselves or at least most of them. You'll make some good friends here. Stick around.

Kicked my ass hard. I caught myself singing the chorus while fiddling for my keys today.

If you know any _good_ drummers, I'd love to hear live drums mixed with it... that's just me, though.

I agree with JonX and Buck62 on extending the ending a bit. We don't want it to end so soon ;).

pg, thanks man!

Yeah, I wish I was set up with some real drums, mic'd perfectly... I'd play`em myself. I'm actually a pretty decent drummer, but it's completely beyond my realm of reality right now... (new baby son, neighbors, etc...) :)

Thanks much for listening. I appreciate the input. Sorry about putting the song in your head, by the way... I've got a quick cure for that though - ready?

It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small small world... Repeat 103X... :)

Ack... ya got me. Dangit... I'm actually tapping my foot to what's in my head (I'm I'm singing it like a lounge singer too)... touche' my friend, touche'.

We've talked about this song off-line, but I have to echo the "Blues Traveller" thing. Very much a similar vocal delivery and harmony stuff to "Hook".

Your versitility to do this higher stuff, then do the lower, bluesier stuff in "Darker Shade..." is very cool.

Charles, that "hook" thing is unintentional... but man, I gotta tell you, I love that song "Hook"... I love listening to it, I love singing along to it especially...

Thanks much for the encouragement and about the versatility thing. Makes a fellow musician feel good.
