Just got some new KRK RP-6 monitors, limited edition, they are white instead of black. Anyways, I'm still recording in 1 room (mic in same room as monitors) so I will have to turn off the monitors everytime I'm recording, and turn them back on for playback.

Is it harmful for monitors to be turned on and off so regularly?

You could just unplug them like I do...

some use the AC strip plugs for ON/OFF to reduce the wear on the monitors switch. which is easier to replace? is the reasoning.

many leave them powered on all the time and just mute it/turn off the volume.

Any special funtions to this limited edition ...in addition to the white paint?

congrats on the new tools!

I do like Coolcat
I have one plugged into the wall with 2 more in series, so turning off 1 switch, shuts everything off at once when I leave. Probably not the best set-up, but it works well for me. Congrats on the monitors, too.

does your interface have a monitor outs volume control? the digi 002 has a little knob next to the headphone volume that i can just turn down, and next to that is a little button that says 'mute'.

I think turning the volume down/off/muting - be it on the interface (if there is a master volume), software console for the interface, etc. would be better than unplugging or turning them off and on again.

I see from previous posts of yours that you have a Firepod. The Firepod has main volume and headphone volume controls on the front of the interface.

Constantly turning them on and off like that can not be good for them. Like others have reccomended, I would find a way to just turn them down when they need to be, and not actually off.

The VS-160EX that I use has independant knobs for monitor volume and headphones volume, so you just have to twist a knob when it's time to mic something.

Other than being white, I don't know of any differences.

I still have the firepod so I guess my best option is turning the volume down, seeing as there is no mute switch.
