For sale is my baby, a Neve 8108. This is a bit ironic but I just wrote an article about this very console in EQ Magazine. The topic was “if it is worth having a large format console now a days!” It’s got a cool pic of me holding a pick ax over the board. (don’t worry!) The 8100 console get a bad rap because of the original crappie routing computer. This board has one of the first Beamish routing computers added on so that you do not use any of the Neve’s system. I spent an additional 7k to have this feature added in! This has been a godsend and is Rock Solid. I have never had any problems with it! It takes all of the routing and puts it into an external PC (included)
I am asking $15K for everything. I bought a new console for our studio and need to move this one fast.
This Neve came out of Capitol records and still has some of the origionla mod’s. This console is a 32 by 24 by 32. It has eight of the effects channels and overall has a beautiful sound that cannot be replicated by any other console. I love the EQ’s as well as the board’s simplicity. It has true plasma meters, 6 auxes, 4 band EQ, and a detailed master section. There is a right-handed patch bay with a producer’s desk, and overall the console is just under 8 feet long. With the beamish routing computer, it is very easy to use the channel faders (32) during mixdown. (I always hate it when people say 134675183745 faders to mix on, and you can never figure out how to do it!) There is a necam moving fader automation system included, however I never hooked it up and chances are it doesn’t work. The tecks did have to modify the faders to bypass the automation.
As with all Neve’s this board has it’s share of problems and is sold as is. It was re-capped around 2 years ago and for the most part it’s in decent shape. One problem that just came up is that the output card just shot. I was still using the console, I just had to use the “active” patch bay to get signal to the speakers. There is a EQ’s out, a couple of individual auxes and a few inserts are also weird. Everything on this console is modular. If something goes bad, an EQ for example, I would move the EQ to Ch 32. and eventually call in the tecks. I will provide contact info for all of our techs that have worked on this board. If you do not have a teck that you trust to install this console, I suggest calling someone that has worked on Neve’s in the past.
All of the channels, plasma meters and faders have been removed and bubble wrapped. The console frame comes in two pieces. there are four heavy power supplies that were just rebuilt. Everything is ready to be created or picked up!
Please do understand that this is a Neve, They don’t like to be moved, and you will from time to time have problems with it. On a positive note, it’s a Neve! You will get the Neve sound out of this console and a serious price reduction!
Check out some of thi pics on our web site, www.soundlogicrecording.com Buyer will either come and pick this up at our studios in Lafayette IN, or pay to have it created and shipped. I only feel comfortable selling this console within the USA.
