Question regarding Neumann TLM 103 mic - is there a difference in sound or quality between the regular and monolith editions? I know the monolith has a black finish - is this the only difference? Thanks for your help.

i guess no one knows the answer to this question,,, thanks anyway

wow, you gave everybody a whole hour to answer!!! :) I think they just changed the color, nothing else.

RTZ is correct--the "monolith" is simply black in color. There are no sonic differences (at least there shouldn't be) between the monolith and the silver one.

You mean you can't hear the difference in the color of a microphone?

:D

I can....

But ONLY if I'm using gold plated connectors, silver wire and a tube pre amp. Plus putting a green stripe of magic marker on the grill is a must for higher fidelity. Otherwise you wont hear the difference.

Hope this helps:D

heylow

And don't forget the green stripe on the tube mic stand either. You'll get much better dithering that way.

OMG that's hillarious!

You'll also need a toob pop filter! Oh wait. It'l color the sound too much.
