hey everybody, this may be a stupid question, but seeing as i have little knowledge, is there a thing that you can buy that makes it so your mic never like gets so loud that it makes a static sound or a distorted sound on your computer, in other words is there something that could make it that if i shouted into the computer it wouldnt distort, it would still come out clean, i have an akg perception 200 mic if that helps with an answer, thanks a lot

Yes, a limiter, for occasional use.

But learning good mic discipline is key to obtaining good vocal recordings.

+1000 good mic skill and discipline is the only real solution. if you limit so much that your shouts are made a "normal" volume then you will have problems.

Ur mic should go into a preamp which would go into ur mixer....then run a compresser into the aux on the same channel .....Presonus Tube Preamp is about $100 and Alesis compressors run between $100 to$150.....great for the prices!!

haha, thats exactly what i was doing, i have the presonus preamp and i'm getting the alesis compressor

You could also try a pad if that mic doesn't have it. Assuming you're not overloading the condenser mic capsule by shouting directly into it...that's more where you'd use a dynamic mic.
