Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. I didn't come to this forum to sell but to learn and when asked I gave the truth as I believe it. If I in any way offended you or anyone, please forgive me. I have been on this site for several days and never trid to hide the fact that I sell D&R.

A quick use of the search function just proved that to be false as well.

If you wanna get real then put your D&R affiliation in your little profile box that appears to the left of your posts. Or put it in your signature.

I'm no republican, either. The "occupation" in my profile is 100% pure sarcasm.

Lost customer

I've been in this business for 40 years and in that time I have been blessed with maybe three customers that seem to have the same type of attitude as you. It's really unfortunate that we couldn't continue in written communication but it will definately be better for my stress level. So, thank you for saving years on my life by not blessing me with your business. You are the winner. I'm the big bad guy. Everything you say is right. After all, you completely told the truth in your profile. I'll take your advice and add whatever I need so others won't think I'm a bad guy.
Thank you sooo much for the wisdom.

And mostly thank you CanopuS for your comment. It's nice to know there are decent people in this World.

Not everybody reads the profiles,

AND I'M NOT HERE TRYING TO SELL STUFF!

Maybe that bullshit plays in TX but it doesn't play anywhere I've lived.

Go pimp your stuff at Harmony Central, or maybe try ebay.

Hey, I'm a bit lost in the area of preamps too. I have an mbox with focusrite pre's in it. They are clean, but that's my problem. I want a preamp with BALLS. Would that be a tube preamp? Should I even consider a tube mic?
I'm a big fan of records that have soul and character, rather than clean and crisp sounding records. I want my recordings to reflect that.
SO WHAT DO I DO? haha

Newbie Perspective from a Bottom Feeder.

PRW,
Basically there has been a big issue here with people accusing this company or that company with spamming or hiring users to boost products by posting good this or great that in this mic forum. I can only speak for myself when I say I dont know personally. I try to just read through the posts and make my own decisions. But on the other hand you have people in here who may make a post that some would consider a valid statement or to be true based solely on the poster's reputation as a mic forum poster. Im not going to get in the whats right and whats wrong thingy, but If I personally was in your shoes and wanted to promote my product,, I would a least put my title to the left as a Id source. To me it make no difference, but to others and trust me when I say someone will probably comment the same way as youve seen already, just throw some ID up there. I see your new and if you need help doing it just ask. just letting you know in advance before this thread gets ugly and they run you away. LOL

Now back to business,, and I will speak as a bottom feeder to gear. A lot of people in here make their purchasing decisions based on these threads and recommendations from certain users ( and there are a lot of them). Mainly because a lot of people do not have access to sources for listening to these products. A lot of these guys have plenty of gear which may be of the same pro quality, semi pro quality or just cheap that they evaluate or compare then post their "opinions" on what they think is good, close to, sucks, etc. Guys like me look for these type of posts. If you hang around long enough you will learn who these people are. Just too many to mention. If you want to get your post read with some seriousness ( not saying that they arent now), try to get some of the pro guys who we look to for comments to eval your preamp. I know nothing about any of the gear you mentioned mainly because this forum is really for the budget to mid level guy who hasnt been around long enough nor have the resources to comment on high priced gear. WE are just lucky to have these pro guys hanging out around here and helping us make decisions. Also,, although a lot of us may not own the high price gear doesnt mean that we do not know about it or what applications they may work well with. Sh@t, we just cant afford it. Well maybe some of us bottom feeders can afford it,, but just cant find a reason to justify paying for it. get me ?
Not to tell you how to run your business or anything nor am I doubting your years of exprience in the field or your product,,, but if you wanna make some sales from people in here,, and turst me it happens,, let some of the pro experienced guys evaluate your product so they can come back with what they found out. That seems to be the way everyone else has done it. Your shelling out a few pieces to a couple of guys could in term generate some sales for yourself. Just my .02 from the Newbie POV.

And again. Welcome

Malcolm

Chip-based (I believe we are using the 2017 but it could be a Burr-brown since we would only have two in the unit. Since Burr-Browns pull four times the current we could not use them in our consoles. Originally we were using transistor (discrete) but found we could have better performance from the 2017 series.

Well, from what I gather, the 2017's have been discontinued for a little while, now. And they supposedly aren't very good -- have a bad reputation for HF distortion that doesn't show on the spec sheets.

So you have a two-channel preamp built around an SSM chip. Woopty-doo! Join the club. What makes yours any better than the other 100 or so? Hell, I can get a 2-channel m-audio dmp3 for $150, and it's got better chips in it. :D

Honestly, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt on this. Just let us know what it is that makes your pre special from the many others just like it? How about the capacitors? Are they electrolytic or are they the high-quality film type? That might count for something.

9 posts in the second thread and not a single mention of you're being the distributor.

I guess you were just too busy pimping the gear to include that little detail.

Plenty of talk about how fuckin great D&R pres are, though.

Adios, dipfuck.

Thank you all for your suggestions & ideas (including the dealer/distributor, which I welcome).

There's a lot of good pres out there, but after thinking for a while, I decided to get the Langevin Dual Vocal Combo. At a price of $1,600, you can't beat 2 channels of mic/DI, 2 eqs and 2 limiters, with stereo linking. It will probably not "warm up" my synths like a nice tube pre, but instead I will get a clean pre for recording vocals. I think that's most important for my applications, where the vocals and instruments like flute & sax have to cut through a dense arrangement of electronic tracks.

The NEVE clones (like the VINTECH) are very tempting, too, but as a main pre (remember I ony have the Focusrite Green channel strip), a colored NEVE clone might not be the ideal solution. Other clean pres (like the John Hardy pres) are a bit too "puristic" for my taste (no DI input, no nothing ... just a knob for the gain). I guess the Langevin is a good choice for me.

Smart choice, can't go wrong with manley
please let us know the results as I am looking at that same piece

I agree. Manley is good stuff. We setup next to Manley for several years at Summer NAMM in Anaheim. Good people.

Is it ok for me to be on this forum?
Hell yeah... it's ok for you to be on this forum. Just sign ALL you post so everyone knows that your the D&R (and whatever else) distributor, "title to the left as an ID source"... be helpful, and don't spam the hell out of the board and it's cool. ;)

To be honest with you, I havent figured it out either. I havent put too much time in it but all I could get to show was my location.

I think if you type a bunch of lines in the location spot they may show up.

Goto User CP > Edit Profile.

They are also talking about your micpre in another forum. Pretty vauge though. You need to get that thing in someone's hands who knows what they are talking about who would give your product a honest evaluation. Also update that pic on the website.:D Im thinking your pre falls right in there with the RNP. Thats probably gonna be my next pre, but I can wait. I remember people saying that the RNP may suck before it came out. Things have surely changed since then.

No

Try user cp>edit profile>custom user text
or looks like you could type it in "location" also.
You should also be able to put it in "Signature" and it would appear at the bottom of your posts.

I think if you honestly identify who you are and your relationship with any entity that might be construed as a conflict of interest, most folks here won't give you too much shit. :)
However, we do have a couple of paranoid schizophrenics on the board - you just have to learn to ignore them. This place is really more like a kindergarten class than an educational forum.
