Need help deciding cheap mixing headphones

Are we talking about cheap headphones for basic recording use....or cheap headphones for mixing?

For a mixing headphone I'll second the Focals. A buddy of mine has them and we compared them to a lot of others. Expensive? Yes. Good?? Definitely

For general purpose I have always liked the AKG k240s and they are not too pricey. I've had the same pair for 20 years.

Whatever you get, learn them by comparing commercially done recordings you like to your tunes.

Good advice. I have a set of reference music for this exact purpose.

The Focals are uncomfortable (definitely on the smallish size, and I don't typically have issues like this with headphones). Very bright sound too, harsh even. Not sure break in period is needed, but don't know if I can wear them often enough or long enough to even break them in so probably going back. Waiting to hear what Robert at Sweetwater says.
