Nady Mics? Good For Price?

i was wondering how some of these mics are for recording instruments and vocals. i have two cheapo mics that work for two track recording, but i am geting into four track and i want to get better sound. are nady mics good or shit. i don't want to spend too much money on a mic. i've been looking around in the price range of 10 to 50 dollars. any suggestions.

Stay away from Nady. The quality control on these things is horrific. I got burned once with a relatively expensive Nady condenser, and will never do that mistake again.
There are great dynamic microphones in that price range, and (I'm probobly walking into the line of fire with that) I bet you will not notice the difference between them and a Shure SM-58. There is the Shure BG series, Audio Technica, a Shure microphone made for Radio Shack (!!!) that you can still find sometimes (33-984E, about 60$) and alll sort of no-name brands that are sometimes surprisingly good. A brand called Hylex is realy popular here in Israel. It sounds just as good as a SM-58, and costs about half as much.

Try around a few brands, and make sure you test every mic before you buy it.

Radio shack has a mic that looks just like a 58 for $19.99 There is nothing like the 58, much like there is nothing like a neumann. If you want a 58 buy the 58! It will save $$$ in the long run!

People are fixated on the SM-58. Ok, Maybe there is no other mic that is exactly like it, because no two mic brands are the same, but there plenty more dynamic microphones that are good for the buck. After experementing with several cheap dynamic mics, I can defenitly tell you that some of them are more then usable. At least in the home studio.

The SM58 is already an inexpensive mic - why does it even need to be cloned??? It's not like the real thing isn't already affordable......

And I doubt Harvey is worried a heckuva lot about buying a "clone" if the real thing will serve him better......... I'm sure if it's in his mic arsenal, it's there for the characteristics the mic exhibits....

Well, for someone that only has 49.99 in disposable income (after saving for 5 months) a 58 clone looks like a good option..just a thought.

Go to ebay and search for shures bg 3.1. I picked one up for around 30.00 including shipping. a quality dynamic for the $$. originally sold for as much as a 58

As far as Nady,I bought a 12" monitor speaker from musicians friend for 89.00. I wish I could of heard it 1st.Should of spent more for a good used monitor but it does what I need for now. I wouldn't recomend it

While I certainly trust those with more experience than I, I can share that I have a couple Nady SCM 900's that serve me pretty well.

I pretty much bought them because they were REALLY cheap and I could get two. I wanted to play with X/Y micing with large diaphrams.

Maybe I lucked out- or maybe I can't hear at all- but the two mics seem pretty consistent to me. I wouldn't rave about how wonderful they are, but they meet my expectations for the price.

I also have better mics that I rely on for better sound, which makes it less risky to try cheap stuff.

My 2 cents...
I wanted a u87 Nueman, didn't have the jack, Bought the Nady TCM 1100...Very pleased. Good bang for the buck.Saving for the nueman though.
