OK, got my new 35102 pre-amp/EQ's in yesterday. I got 'em racked up and started using/testing them today. My first impression is that they are VERY musical, and very discrete, or flat. Of course the EQ can REALLY help with shaping the sound, and what little I have done with them so far, I can tell these are going to be a valuable asset.
BUT, and thats a big BUT, one of the units has some line noise in it. I'm wondering a few things about it:
1.) Do I need to let this vinatge gear warm up a bit before using it?
2.) Should I be using balanced cables with it, or does it matter.
3.) I switched the plugs at the power supply (i.e. swapped the cables over, and the same side still has the noise)
4.) The noise could just be a faulty cable, and I'm off to go get some new ones to try it out.
5.) Should I have the power supply plugged into a different outlet than the monitor's amp?
6.) Has anyone else ever used these? I have a few questions about the parametric EQ.
Thanks in advance for your help.
