nope 14 years olds don't go to prison they go to JDC (juvinile detention center) while adults go to ADC (adult detention center) anyone under 18 goes to JDC anyone over goes to ADC. you go there until your court hearing then at your hearing the judge decides whether to keep you in JDC or ADC or to go home and remain on temporary probation until your court date then at your court date they can make you serve time in JDC or if it's like your 3rd time offense or if you ahve 2 felony's you go to a Prison type enviroment but for kids... no ass pounding in either JDC or "down state" (the term for the prison) but for copyright enfringement I doubt he'll serve any time ... probably just a fine and his site shut down.
 
Who are you call'n a Punk? two of my brothers are in law, so do you think i would do anything unlawful on purpos with 2 law people in the house?

You already did by pretty much copying someone else's site to the tee...
 
I'm going to help you out here, Zeke - because I don't think you're aware of the mistakes you're making with the text on your webpage....

The idea is to include only pertinent information that is relevant to the user.

Here's an example from your site - I'll break it down section by section....

Phatman Studios Is housed in a 40' x 10' x 8' Mobel building
First thing - what the hell is a Mobel building???


...located just off the shores of beautiful Shoal Creek.
Fair enough...!


Surrounded almost completely with Shoal Creek Forest, you don't have to worry about noisy Highways or other distracting sounds....
Well, duh! That's why they go to a studio - it's expected that a recording studio will be free of extraneous noise!


....it's peaceful; the perfect place to get back to nature.
How nice... except that people are there to record, not go camping!


The Facility includes a Control room, Live room and 2 tracking rooms...
Again - of course a studio WOULD have these rooms, why are you mentioning it?? (I suspect you saw it on a website and changed the wording a little - however on the website you may have seen, the context of the text was to provide room dimensions - without that, it sounds pretty silly!)


...and is stocked with Quality constructing recording equipment.
What exactly, is "Quality constructing recording equipment???" That makes no sense.... and in any case, again - if you're charging clients, they already EXPECT you to have recording equipment, so what is the point of this information??


Phatman Studios is owned and operated by Zeke Sayer, who founded the studio in late 2000.

Once again, who cares??? No one wants to know who's paying your bills, they just want to know that you have the potential to get their job done successfully.....


...has enabled Zeke to transform his once "Home Studio" into a Semi-Pro Recording Facility.
Another "who cares" -- and what's a semi-pro facility??? To a client, that can imply that you can only semi-get-the-job-done....


A long term goal for Zeke is to be invloved in audio engineering and music production at major recording facilitys.
Might be ok for a resume, but has no place on a business website.

...yeah sure, at the client's expense. This is a sure-fire turn-off to any potential clients -- it clearly shows that you consider yourself a rank amateur, so why on earth would they pay good money???


Don't take my comments personally - you're just learning and that's understood - plus I tried to inject a little humour into it so you catch the drift of what I'm getting at...

Think about what potential clients want to know from your website, not just what you want to tell them!
 
Hi Zeke,
I think you want folks to "hear the difference" by hearing your music. Right now it reads more like "Here the difference be." which you could make an argument for as it is a link. All I saw was an under construction notice which means you are doing just what you should be. Keep your eye on the goal and do not let yourself be distracted by the likes of Aphux. You do the work and let Aphux do the name calling.

I know how hard it is to get an original website idea. I create websites for fun. I think I do a pretty decent job, but it's very hard.

It's kinda like mixing, do something, go away and when you come back to it you'll see the stuff you like and the stuff you don't.

I would sugguest making your own logo - it's much cheaper than what a pro graphic designer will charge you (take some time and do it right).

How about this for an idea?

Move your logo center. Your motto "where quality counts" a little off center.

add your links in a row (beside each other) but centered on the page under your logo/motto.

Add your text/pictures for each page underneath. You can enclose the text with a black border using tables.

Just an idea.
 
Zeke, just out of curiosity, have you registered your studio as a business, ie are you paying taxes and all that?
 
Not yet, i'm just trying to get it open right now. I got 3 more rooms to paint, carpet, treat and move my junk into :)

sae, I'm going to design my own logo, but i don't know what to use. I tryed the paint software that comes in every windows computer, and it sucked. do you know of any software or whatever?
 
I do know a lot of software but it's expensive stuff. Adobe photoshop is what I use, but I'm sure there is more out there.
 
Hey guys...I was led here on a little troll hunt (guess which "newbie," lol)...so I was reading the thread, and I was impressed at the effort to help Zeke out. Cool people.

However, I also wanted to add that I really am an attorney, and none of you people should be handing out legal advice, lol :D ESPECIALLY the "lawyer."

Oh, and regardless of anybody's age, lol...nobody's going to JAIL for ANYTHING mentioned in this thread (it's really more of a trademark issue with the logo than a copyright issue, but whatever)...

Well, I take part of that back...several states do provide criminal penalties for impersonating an attorney, so I guess SOMEBODY could go to jail, lol.

I have this recurring dream where I log onto this site one day, and I'm the only user on the board, because the other guy died in a car crash or something, so nobody was here to log on under the other 20,0000 usernames.
