My First MP3 Post

Here is my first post for you guys to tear apart. I am JUST the engineer/studio-coach. This is one song of a project I did last year.

The band is called The Dawson Ryder Band, and the song is called "Lucy Gray".

Enjoy and let me know what you think.
 
Me like. How did you pan or place the cymbals? They seemed a little too hard left and right. Liked the sound of the harmonica and the acoustic. Vocals had quite a bit of sibilance (hard S's). but all this is nit picking. Great job.
 
gotta dig that sound, baby... excellent. Have to ask what's up with the cymbals - the one panned to the right sounds like a sample, but that's not your problem. However, the keyboard is a bit heavy at the end - I think it make too much of an impact and kills the acoustic guitar, but I'm sort of partial to acoustic guitars so who knows. :)

I had a little sibilance before, but it was not bad. Converting it to .MP3 magnified it too much. I will admit all of the drums are sampled (DM5). The cymbals were a bit harsh before the conversion and sure as heck did not improve afterwards. I like most of the drums on the DM5 except the crashes and splashes. As far as the piano at the end, we were going for the fat ending; grand finale type of thing. Thanks for the honest reviews.
 
Hey Fishmed, really liked that tune very much, these guys are really good and it sounded like a killer mix you got going on too...Way to go dude.
