MR8 - WAV files don't sync!

I'm trying to overdub some tracks onto the MR8 but when I use WAV manager to move the tracks back to the PC, they don't sync up with my existing material! Basically here's what I'm doing:

- Dump two WAV files from Cubase into the MR8 using WAV manager
- Overdub guitar parts
- use WAV manager to tranfer new files back to PC
- Import new WAV files into Cubase
- They don't sync up with the existing WAV files!

What am I doing wrong? When I record, I start at absolute zero. When I play back the song on the Fostex, it's perfectly in sync... But in Cubase, the tracks start too late.

Does the Fostex not pad the WAV files so that they'll be the correct length? WTF is the point of the USB transfer if you can't accurately import into a software program?

Anyone know a fix for this, or know exactly how to determine where the WAV files should start in the song so that they'll sync up?

Thanks.

any particular reason why you're using Wav Manager? I've never used it...I always just drag and drop files from my MR-8 to a folder on my PC, then open them with whatever editing program I'm using. Does drag and drop work with your PC? I'm using Windows XP and it works great! I've never had synching problems with my wavs.

I don't know if you're doing this or not, but I always create a file for each song I'm working on. When I transfer to the computer, I send the tracks to the file. If I want to go into my mixing software, I import from the file.
When I want to go back to the MR8, I send from the file. I think the problem might be going directly to and from Cubase.
It's an extra step, but it might just save you the headaches.

Alright take bdbdbuck's last post and where ever he said 'file', read it 'folder'.

Thanks turntablist, sometime I forget what all this stuff is called.
