I'm considering the purchase of an MR-8. The primary application is for voice-over work (pre-recorded music in the background and voice segments overlayed). One of the complaints I read about the MR-8 is the lack of ability to set the punch-in and punch-out points using the time code (absolute, beat, relative, etc.). It appears that you have to set the punch-in/out point using the play and stop buttons. Setting the entrance time and exit time for each voice-over is critical. Can you specify the punch-in/out point using time controls on the MR-8 or must I stop the track manually? If I must do the latter, how difficult is it to get the exact time point for punch-in/out on the MR-8.

punch in

sure you can and is pretty easy too, i think the best way is to use the auto punch in feature, you set the starting and ending points, and when you get to that part, the mr 8 will start and stop recording on cue by itself...
