i'm more annoyed by the guy with the avalon pre, the nuemann u87 and the fairchild who asks how to get a more professional sound than the newbie with a RNC that asks the same question.

And I am most annoyed by the guy who has a SM57 and a Soundcard who is given advice from a guy with an Avalon pre, U87 and a fairchild, and in frustration defaults to "It is not the gear it is the ear" OR "It is a poor craftsman who blames his tools" OR the absolute end of the most desperate plea "It is all in the performance". ANYTHING to get around the fact that better equipment actually does make a difference.

I would have to say mine is>>>BEST MIC FOR HIP_HOP VOX.....I say buy the cheapist thing with a xlr....I recorded rap for a long time and never had a complaint about the TONE of a mic....

*uck all *hat

Teh mic you need is teh Radio Shack PZM. Which rhymes with RZA.

I'd have to say the most annoying thing on this board is not any particular question. Rather, it's when someone comes in posts one question, "how do I..." gets 3 or 4 really helpful answers, and never says "thank you". You never hear from them again. What happened to good manners?

hey im new to this forum and have no rep but does anyone want to buy this $1500 mic for $150?

how do i ...soundproof my room using only blankits and some pillows?

I suppose most of the people here replying never have asked annoying questions before? I'm taking it for granted that you were never lazy and decided to ask a question without researching it first? Most of you must not deal with the general puplic every day or work in retail.
I am glad there are people on this forum that keep answering the questions that are repeated over and over again. They're the ones that show the new people here that this board does have a heart and is here to help. :)

For the record: I answer these types of questions fairly often. And I only suggest the search box to be helpful because a topic is really broad, not because I want to be rude. But I also lurked here for almost 8 months before ever posting a question. I wanted to post a bunch of times, but every time I thought of a question, I'd do a search first. And for almost 8 months I always found the answer had already been given.

So yeah, this board has a heart and is here to help. And now I'm a small part of that. But that's a two way street--the new folks can have a heart by searching and reading first. That's just plain ol' good advice. There's enough on here to learn for months just by reading what's already been posted.

So don't be offended by this thread. It's just some folks letting off a little steam--many of the same folks that are all over the board answering these same newbie questions.

You also have to remember that some people like to feel apart of the group. So they post a question. It is thier way of getting the ball rolling. If all they wanted is just to learn, well there are plenty of articles on the web and videos. Think of it as internet small talk. Suggesting the search box can sometimes seem rude because it is like someone coming up to you and asking you a question and you handing them a book and telling them to figure it out yourself. Sort of like saying get lost and don't bug me. All they wanted to do is interact with you. :)

Agreed. I think sometimes folks want to be a part of the group as much if not more than they want to be about the business of recording. I certainly feel that way sometimes. And so we interact.

I think for the most part it goes well for newbies, especially when they ask a somewhat intelligent question, and at least stick around and seem like they appreciate the answers. Some of the "oldies" just get frustrated by folks looking to be spoonfed then blowing off the answers if they don't like 'em.

It's a balancing act...

Most annoying question?

"Please take lots of time to explain to me in detail what I could learn by myself in less time by reading the manual."

I agree, it is a balancing act. I just wanted to let some of the other posters see the flip side. I'm glad you understand. Thanks for understanding.:)

Why does it burn when I pee?

Can you guys give me a reg. code for {insert software name here}?

Why do I suck so bad?

Will Dogman ever have anal with me?

Wow- another 3 year old thread that won't die, which I have never previously posted on. As anybody around here knows, I will occasionally write one of my "War and Peace" class posts to some novice who has asked one of those sweeping questions. Sometimes I do this because they really are about to spend all their money on the wrong gear, sometimes because they haven't begun to grasp the cost of the peripherals.

I'll admit- I'm more inclined to try to help a noob when they are polite, or when they are of the female persuasion. The latter is because in spite of the thousands of successful female recording artists, you can count the number of top female engineers and home studio owners in the US with the fingers of your two hands! I think this business (and this hobby, whichever it is for you) could profit from a woman's touch.

I'll also admit that I am far less likely to try to help somebody that uses gangsta rap spelling and text message shorthand.

I don't really know why I answer some posts and not others, but I guess I feel like the long time posters need to take turns trying to find out if some noob is worth helping. Sometimes my number is just up. I am also more likely to try to help if the request is *possible*.

So I guess my most annoying question (most depressing, really) is, "I want to get radio-ready recorded sound like the big studios in an untreated bedroom for $100 or less. I'm just doing rap vocals over pirated beats. What presets do I use on my tube preamp to get that sound? Oh yeah- and the rapper sucks. Does that make a difference?"-Richie

I voted other because even though I have almost 900 posts I'm (like the rest of us) still learning. What aggravates me is (most of the time) newbies asking questions that could have been answered if they would have used the search option that this recording forum offers. It's their for a reason. If you can't find the answer then it's time to post a new thread.

I think the main reason I wish alot of these posters would use the search function is because answering thier quandary would require me or most of us to regurgitate what has already been said by people for more qualified than I.:D

I just feel the info from the source is better than what would have been filtered by my tiny brain.

Alot of the great posters don't post here anymore, theres alot of great info to be had by using search.

I kinda did what whitestrat did and was able to find answers as a lurker for a long period searching.

Yo I need a cheap mic to match my bling bling yall hook it up i need some professionalism for my beats shizzle dude! No haters:laughings:

"I am recording an album......................................."

Not really a question, just an annoying opening line

Everyone on the entire planet is recording an album. What is the big deal?
