OK,

When I'm mixing all the tracks down to one wav file it shows at the bottom right that it is now 16 bit stereo.

I looked in options and the "Mixdown to file" setting is at 16 bit.

Why wouldn't you want to select 32 bit here?

Is it better to mixdown to 16 bit?

I guess what I"m saying is "Shouldn't you try to keep as much quality as possible until you go to CD?"

When you mix all your tracks down to one wav file, you *are* going to CD, and then you have to have it at 16 bits, 44.1 KHz.

Until that point, while you're still processing the mix - yes, keep everything at the highest resolution your system's capable of. I run at 24-bit/44.1 KHz until I dither everything down for the CD burn. If my system ran higher, I'd run at 24-bit/88.2. (Keep in mind that Cool doesn't have a 24-bit setting - you have to select 32-bit floating point.)

mixdown

I believe in options/ Settings /multitrack you can select either 16 bit or 32 bit mixdown, in case you want to process the stereo file further before burning to CD.
