Well, listened to all the entries. Realized mine sucked pretty bad, so it's back to the beginning - this time with all the tracks...... :)

I'm not sure what to do with the vocals........not exactly my type of music and I can't understand anything he is singing.

OK... Here's my first stab...

I'm going to have a quick listen to what's posted to see what you guys did (and how they sound on my system)

I have some thoughts on what needs to be tweaked still, but wanted to have you guys tell me what you're hearing so I can continue getting to know my room and monitors...

First try

....

Hmmmm....

Something's up with the mp3's that i make... They seem to start sounding all compressed and continue more and more into the song... ???

The wave file doesn't sound like that...

I'm too tired to tinker with it now...

I'll try and get something listenable up later...

:(

Ok, so ive made my version:)

It's not something great, again it was made on my cheap headphones, but i diid it to excersise mixing, so why not upload it;)

I dont know if i should upload this on lightningmp3, as this is not mine song, but i dont have better place for mp3s, so sorry if i abuse the terms of using lightningmp3;)

my mix

Hope it's not so bad:)

PS. BentRabbit: Try to remove those crappy sounding DI guitars and others. Leave only needed tracks... Or do some interesting effect with them, but not all in the same time...

Yeah... I was trying to weed through the plethera of guitars in this thing... I'm needing to apply some envelopes still but I'm not sure which ones were which...

Is there a track sheet?

I just got Sonar installed after putting in my new hard drive...my first attempt...

Mix1

I used EVERYTHING in this mix.... :D

Hmmmm, I added the other "vox" track, but stuck with the two original guitar tracks that I used. Beefed up the toms, bass, and added some ooomph to the guitars, but took out some of the edge. Evened the vox a bit. I still wanna gog the toms, but it's gonna take some work - maybe I will, maybe not

Mine sounds quite a bit different than Dogman and Bentrabbits, but I wasn't feeling the other guitar tracks......

Haven't listened anywhere but the monitors, so don't know if this is any better or not.

I've really been around the block on doing this, but here goes.

Here's my thoughts on the clips so far which are solely my opinion and likes... nothing more and does not speak to anything else, especially your ability and preferences.

These are first impressions and I wrote these as I listened and are only criticisms, not likes. One can find a lot to like in all clips, but that's not the point here.

scypior
Drums seem really dry
Kick is hard to hear/feel
Bass gtr seemed to stand out and didn't mix with the guitars

BentRabbit
guitars are really fizzy
bass and gtr didn't seem to mesh
some popping some from the bass gtr
kit seems distant... little punch
vocals sounded like they're on the other side of the room

bigwillz24
volume is really low
snare is a lot louder than the rest of the kit
sorry, but the mix sounds like you didn't bother to turn many knobs

Perdicament
kit may be a bit too loud
I like clicky kick but yours didn't work for me

CGibson
maybe a bit more kick click
bottom is "a bit" boomy
the singer is really recessed
maybe more punch from the kit

nl5 - first post
really bright
screaming sounds thin
kit lacks punch

Dogman
Guitars seem really back in the mix
No sure about singer... but maybe... sounds like a chorus effect
guitars seem mushy... maybe more definition needed

overall generalizations
kits all seemed pretty dry
kits have little punch
guitars seem weak (I didn't care for the guitars as amped)
mixes overall lacks depth

gitRhero's headphone mix

funny, i listen through headphones to a bunch of these mixes and your mix sounds great, maybe because we're both on headphones??

just thought that was funny.

I'm a nubie dubie du

A lot of people don't seem interested in it, and I have not had a lot of time to down in the basement...

That's a shame, I enjoyed mixing it. Good you haven't gave up on it though.
Did you listen to my mix yet? Don't mean to be impatient but this is my first mix of some elses recording and really curious what you think. Not sure if the mix is right for this style of music? Especialy the verb and stuff, drum levels.

Haven't been able to listen to any of the other mixes yet, my browser keeps freakin crashing when I link to an audio file (Firefox)..

Thanx timboZ...

I just listened to it.

It's pretty harsh in the upper freq's - mine suffred from this as well. The snare is pretty loud, but the kick is kinda buried. Not too bad of a mix overall.

gitRhero, Just checked out your mix. There are a few places that the overall volume seems to change. Nice heavy but not muddy sound. Also At times the vocals are a bit to loud for me. Sounds good.

Thanks NL5. I'm gonna give it another go tomorow.
