Seriously though, thank you and the other judges, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, for taking the time to judge this thing. I bet it'll be whole lotta work with all those mixes.
I couldn't have said it better. I was about to post and say pretty much the same thing.

can't even start to tell how much I've learnd till now and I secretly hope that when the results are in some of the guys will want to share their 'settings' (for lack of a better word) so we can see HOW ppl achieved what they achieved. That would be fantastic, icing on the cake if you will...really looking forward to that.

Definitely. I've heard things that I NEED to know how they were done. Not just the cool effects, but just certain sound qualities that I didn't even know I recorded. Maybe you can polish a turd. :D

I wish all the judges would rub my weiner. I'm gonna ask my wife if she'll rub my weiner. I like it when she rubs my weiner. Anyone wanna rub my weiner? :D

Ok, well that leaves us with 15 contestants...I will not tolerate any weiner rubbing in my contest.

"weiner"??? If you said "cock" I'd let it slide, but I have standards.

Oh by the way, just for the record, I don't know who the other 2 judges are either.

Actually, I think the judges should reference the mixes from time to time in different setups. This is what will truly reveal some of the strengths and weaknesses of some of the mixes. If it sounds great in one system, and horrid in another, but another mix sounds pretty good in both, than that would be a better mix in my opinion. Too many people attribute this to mastering. Yes mastering does help that, but it is never a substitute for a solid mix. I do agree though that most of the listening should be done on whatever system each judge is the most familiar with:)

Damn, sorry to hear that, man. For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure the judges have your mix. It's very good, even though I'm sure it would be even better if you were able to work with it. Thanx for entering, dude. We'll do other things in the future.

And again big thanks to RAMI for startings this.

You are very welkom Clause. I am speaking for the other judges as well. You are right when you say.."whole lotta work". 16 mixes....

well 15, now that there has been a wiener rubbing disqualification! :D (Sirsomethingness is waiting in the cave Dog, but careful...I heard he just stocked up on Vicks Vapo-Rub!! :D )

The judges have busy lives, with family and jobs and there own musical activities. So I give them all a big KUDOS myself!!!

Me, I come here and post nonsenical phrases and meaningless post all day. ;)

The listening isn't actually hard of course, but is very time consuming, because a judge needs to hear each mix several times and have a break inbetween, as it does take a toll on the ears.(Fatigue) To be fair, we have to take time to do it correctly and as efficently as possible. We could have split the number of mixes between us, but that just didn't seem to be fair either. So 16 tunes, to listen to several times, making notes, going back and listening to something we noted, and then to have one last listen...to the mix as a whole...without breaking down the elements of recording into seperatness but as a whole...just to listen. So 16 xs ?....it can add up to many many listens. The final listen says a lot about the mix. Because the final listen to the mix as a whole...a song, with different sounds tracked, compressed, eq'd, effected, panned...etc... all come togather to be presented as a SONG!! The guitars clear and crisp...the drums tamed, yet punchy...the bass full and throaty...the vocals distinct with just enough effect..each with it's own space, yet togather as one balanced sound. etc...WoW!! I am excited and having so much fun doing this!! I am starting to ramble!! I know my terms are most likely different than what they should be, and hope I don't cause too much confusion.

Thanks Clause, you other doods, the judges....and TO RAMI, for this experience to share and learn.

Luv ya,
True............. :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

*Oh yeah...don't forget...words like Strat...Marshall....Babyblue....Tascam....helps your cause immensely.* :p :p :p :p

Hey....I got the mix and it sounded finished to me.

However, I can't make anymore comment than this on your mix, because it would be very inappropriate for any of the judges to do so.

True...good luck!! :)
