Deadline is Saturday night at midnight...my time. That is almost exactly 3 days away Central USA time, so check your clocks and make sure you understand the time difference if you are from another time zone. It is 10:30 pm my time now. I am giving some extra time, since this is all so short notice, in case you guys want one last tweak with your mix.
It also gives me some extra time to get some guidelines for the judges and I am waiting on a couple of replys still.
Remember to have patience...there are at least 15 mixes and 3-4 judges will be listening to each and every one...more than once. That is the only way, I can see any fairness in the judging. All ears must hear all mixes. This could take up to 2 wks. because the judges have life-things they must attend to during this judging period. We will do our best to move as quickly as possible, without compromising the quality time it takes to judge.
Once the deadline has passed, no one can enter or re-do their mix.
I will be posting the guidelines for the judges, before the deadline, so you will all know by what standards, you are being judged.
You will not only be judged on the quality of mix, but also on the creativity of your mix. You may not be an expert...you don't have to be...I don't believe this contest should be for experts. If you are an expert, you don't need to do this right?
The clinic is for learning purposes and that is what the whole of this contest should be about. Not who is best, but what can you learn....okay, so you may think that to be a bit of BS...we know you would stab each other in the back, to win the cool prizes....just don't get caught doing it, or I will deal with you in the SHED!! Remember...cherry chocolate strat...it is a new ice cream flavour...
Okay...let me see...what else do I want to tell you fukkers...oh yeah, even though I do have favourites...I WILL be impartial in judging and expect that out of the other judges. I will not let friendship color my hearing. I have respect for you guys and I do love you all. As we know, not everyone can win 1st place...doesn't mean your mix wasn't good....I hope that all of us will come from the contest, with some good knowledge and learning experience we didn't have before. I do not have a degree in listening...neither do the other judges. I do believe however, that we have enough listening skills to tell what is good and what is not. If all of your entries are good, then I believe we all have the necessary skills to hear when something is too thin...to loud...misplaced. Do not think, just because any of us lack the skill of proper terms to be used, that it means we lack the skill necessary to hear properly. I do have an idea rolling round my bwain at the moment, and will run it by RAMI....hope it works...it will make this a learning experience for sure. It will however add more time to the contest....but who cares, if it means we learn more...right? RIGHT?!!!
Just as RAMI had posted in a thread earlier to the affect of *...if I had went by your mp3 posting skills, I would have thought you
not to have recording skills, but it made no difference*...
lacking the knowledge to post an mp3 did not have one thing to do with his playing or recording talent...at all...
All of that lollipop crap aside...enjoy your prizes and have a beer and cut and kick some mixing ass!! ...it is going to get tense in this place!!
