Midi/USB?

Hi all,
Ok, so I've just disconnected the Midi cables between my keyboard and audio interface and it seems to have made no difference to the way the keyboard interacts with the PC [Cubase SL3] . At the risk of sounding really thick, am I right in thinking the USB cable which I've also had connected to the PC has been doing the same job?

It sure sounds like it.

Many keyboards have both usb and midi ports.

Nothing thick about it. The usb lead could easily have been for power.

In fact you could be doing yourself a favour.

I've got a keyboard with both midi and usb output. For a while I had both midi and usb connected, feeding the midi input into Logic.

You may not have had the problem I had, which was really weird sounding midi.

After a while I realised that Logic was recording each note twice; once via USB and once via midi. The notes sat on top of each other, so I couldn't see these 'double hits'. I eventually discovered this, and removed the midi cable. No more weirdness!
