Midi/USB?

Hi all,
Ok, so I've just disconnected the Midi cables between my keyboard and audio interface and it seems to have made no difference to the way the keyboard interacts with the PC [Cubase SL3] . At the risk of sounding really thick, am I right in thinking the USB cable which I've also had connected to the PC has been doing the same job? :o

It sure sounds like it.

Many keyboards have both usb and midi ports.

Nothing thick about it. The usb lead could easily have been for power. ;)

In fact you could be doing yourself a favour.

I've got a keyboard with both midi and usb output. For a while I had both midi and usb connected, feeding the midi input into Logic.

You may not have had the problem I had, which was really weird sounding midi.

After a while I realised that Logic was recording each note twice; once via USB and once via midi. The notes sat on top of each other, so I couldn't see these 'double hits'. I eventually discovered this, and removed the midi cable. No more weirdness!

Hey, thanks for the swift response, guys.
Don't feel so much of a newbie now [ but then, were my midi cables connected correctly after all?]-----Hmm.

Cheers!
Kj
