I need to get a midi interface. I remember reading some where long ago that there are timing issues with USB devices (inaccurate midi timing.) Is this something that's still a problem or have these issues been solved? I've been doing some searches but haven't had much luck finding any info.

Anyone using a USB interface having problems? Should I get USB or should I be looking at serial/parallel interfaces?

I would'nt use USB for that same reason

By the way, what the hell are you chewing on

I dont think youll have too many timing issues with Midi and USB....maybe with digital audio....USB has come a long way......

however, for personal preference, i rather a Soundblaster.......dont you have one of those dudes already?.....

and where the heck have you been?.....

Im using a midiman 1x1 usb interface (about 1 year old) and Ive never had any problems with it. Seemes to me that if the interface is relativley new and your OS has good usb support (in other words, maybe its 95/98 that have the timing issues as opposed to USB), then your in good shape. Ive never heard about the midi/usb timing issues before, but then again, Ive never looked. Im using win 2000 with my midiman and it works great.
good luck

I have heared several rumours that USB gives sync problems, but rumours ....:)

I'm using WinME (for now.)

Anyone other than gbondo9 have experience with USB midi interfaces? Or anyone know where I can find more info on this?

Thanks

Stealthtech: chicken.

Gidge: hey how's it going? I know I haven't been around much these days. Been busy and have had ALOT of equipment trouble. My computer got fried!! My Delta 1010 too! Had to buy a new mainboard and it's going to take at least a month to fix the Delta. Back to SBLive for now which sucks because I've just been hired to arrange a song for a local adult contemporary album.

sorry to hear about the computer troubles...i hope you can get back in working order soon and good luck with the new project......

I recently got a MIDIMAN2X2 USB interface for MIDI. Though I have not yet put it into full use, so far I have not had any problems. I use Win2000.

I've used the same with Win 98 with few problems. Much better than the parallel port Opcode.

i bought a usb mid interface for my b4 plugin so i could play it on my kurzweil....boy do i regret that choice. the latency is terrible, its around a half second off, making it damn near impossible to play it correctly. needless to say this 100 dollar interface is collecting dust in a box of other junk i dont use.
