Whats up guys!
I made a studio earlier on, and it was great. But my laptop broke :( So my friend wants to make a studio until my laptop is back. I told him to buy an audio interface, but he cant afford one atm. So, he is going with a USB mic. Will a MXL v67g USB be fine and a laptop with Reaper, FL 9, And Audacity? We can just cut out the distortion and everything, static with FL 9 I'm pretty sure. But yeah, I know it wont sound terrible, but wont sound great. Hopefully it sounds good though. Eventually, we will get an audio interface, just cant afford it. It's just going to be something to use until we get one. You think it will be fine?
 
if you get usb mic now...u wont be able to use the interface with it...no point...

so u might aswell get a dynamic mic near ur local store for around $40 or something , use that until u can afford the interface (with phantom power) and a condensor microphone in your budget.
 
I know that. I meant as in when we get enoguh money for an audio interface, we will buy the audio interface and a new mic.
 
yeah what im trying to point out is dont waste ur money on an expensive usb mic...keep that for the mxl v67g (xlr version) or even better mics.. buy something like a behringer c-1 (usb) or something similar in its budget...so u can have more left over for an XLR mic...

i suggest you wait until you can afford the interface and a mic...you will have more money to put onto the mic .... like lets say you dont spend $60 on a usb mic...and when u come to the point where u can buy an interface and mic ...you will be $60 ahead...so the mxl v67g is $100..you can get the mxl v67i for $160 ....look up mxl v67i on youtube there is 2 videos for it...watch them both and see how much use that mic would be for you..
 
USB mics are made for podcasting.

The converter chips are, well... cheap. And monitoring will be a problem.

Pass and get a real setup or you'll be sorry later.

my first and last mic so far has been the samson c01u USB ...
i loved it at first (because i didnt know what sounded good and bad)...
but now..i almost hate it...im hopefully get a $599 mic and with its phantom power , im guessing ill be near studio quality ;)

That's not necessarily true.

We manufacture a true 24/96 usb mic, that is used extensively by voice over pros, and in film applications. We also make a 24/48 mic which gives sonic performance on a par with fine phantom powered condenser mics.
