Well its no neumann but it will get the job done :)

You need a pop filter to record vocals, the cheapest that zzounds have is $25

If you're really strapped for cash you could make a pop filter with a nylon stocking and a coat hanger though.

for home use ..probably good..we talking home studio with no budget...your probaly in big studio..and can afford a good one

Might be better off w/ a v67g. Don't get sucked in w/ the free shock mount and pop filter. I don't use a shockmount with mine (though my environment is different from yours) and I've used the nylon on a coat hanger for a few months. Sometimes, it actually sounds better than the pop filter I use now.

Plus, although I've never used that mic, I'm pretty sure the v67 would sound better. If that's too expensive ($99), you can pick up an SP B1 ($79). Both have high recommendations on this board. good luck!

Look Jinx,

No one here is being a gear snob.

The GXL line is just basic, off-the-shelf Chinese stuff. For the same price, you could get a Marshall like Artcross mentioned and probably be happier (Did I just say that?).

Now, on the other hand, CAD does make some really good microphones in their Equitech and M-series. The M-177 or M-179 are the real deal. And they're a total steal. Not even going to cost you much more than that GXL stuff you're currently drooling over.

But it's your choice. If you want your tracks to sound good, you should have a good mic ... and not that suckville rebadged Chinese stuff.

naw didnt mean it like that...just have a REALLY strict budget...and im only recording vocals...so didnt want to spend to much money for more mic i dont need...

Uh ... Jinx. You do realize that you're ... um ... white, don't you?

lol...light skin bro...live in south central los angeles ...MIXED..mother as black as whoopi and father as white as you.!lol

If you're rich, why are you buying ANYTHING from this price range?

I would agree with Chessrock's comments regarding avoiding 'attack of the clones'-type mics. Not to avoid them, but be aware what you're looking at. At one point there were like six different SDCs that all looked exactly the same, but the UK street prices ranged from £40 to £100. None of them big money, but all of the more expensive ones a rip-off!!

Companies that design their own will be able to support you better ... OEM-type designs tend not to be so well supported as the people you bought them from didn't have any say in the design or manufacture!
