I would agree with Chessrock's comments regarding avoiding 'attack of the clones'-type mics. Not to avoid them, but be aware what you're looking at. At one point there were like six different SDCs that all looked exactly the same, but the UK street prices ranged from £40 to £100. None of them big money, but all of the more expensive ones a rip-off!!

Companies that design their own will be able to support you better ... OEM-type designs tend not to be so well supported as the people you bought them from didn't have any say in the design or manufacture!
yea u guys are right...i get the better built ones...this project is for my nephew im building him his own basement home studio and wanted something sturdy. i guess mics are importand if just recording vocals...thanks
