Mic PreEminence

hi,

I am in a position to get a used studio technologies "mic preeminence" for less than the price of a brand new Joemeek British Channel Vc6q or a DBX 386

I have found no reviews, but the technical compasrison shows that the mic preeminence has less distortion and less noise, but it is also transparent.

Should I go for the transparent mic pre or the warm fat sound that one gets from the british channel , DBX 386

Any input is very welcome.

If it were me, I'd beg or borrow enough money to buy both. There is always plenty of uses for a good clean pre, AND it's also nice to add a little tube color here and there.
I really like the dbx386, but I'm waiting to try out the dbx576 (pre + comp) before I decide.
